It was my fault - hence the not sleeping :o

He's going out all day on Saturday - literally crack of dawn until late at night - which I don't begrudge him (well, okay, a little bit lol), but he's been out loads since Natasha was born, whereas I can't really go out, and because everyone else I know works, I'm stuck at home all day, so I was just feeling bored and lonely and took it out on him.

And one of his friends is getting divorced and said the other day that it's because they have nothing in common any more and hardly speak to each other - Stu said 'Oh, that'll be us in a couple of years', meaning it as a joke, but I'm still hormonal and felt quite hurt and upset by it.

I feel bad though because he's having a hard time himself - one of his friends committed suicide a few weeks ago, and another has been sent to prison (completely unexpectedly and for something sooo out of character, so a complete shock). So I think with all that AND a new baby, he's feeling pretty crap himself.

I love him to bits though, and I know we'll get through it.

The way you're both feeling sounds perfectly understandable Snaggles, its so hard when you each feel crap and neither one has the energy to not take the comments personally, IYSWIM? I have to say I'd be upset by the "oh, that'll be us in a couple of years" comment. Especially if things are a little tense between you (quite naturally with a new baby, sleepless nights etc) it would be nice to be reassured that he believes you'll get through it.

I hope things feel better soon :)

Thanks Kath - we're both 'open mouth, insert foot' sort of people, so usually I'd have laughed it off, because I really do know in my heart it was a joke, but it probably wasn't the best time to make a joke like that, when I'm feeling tired, anxious and not very attractive with my still saggy post-baby body lol!

Its great that you know deep down that it was a joke, but also understandable that it upset you with everything else that's going on. Are you managing to make any time to spend just the two of you, just for a cuddle and a chat? Don't forget to take care of you, individually and as a couple, as well as those gorgeous children of yours!

The silly thing is, there IS time because Natasha is so placid, and Ryan is in bed for 7.30-ish, but Stu is so tired all the time and just sits watching TV, so I end up coming on here to chat instead, and then suddenly it's bedtime and we've hardly spoken (which I think is why his 'joke' upset me so much). I think we really do need to make an effort to be Mr and Mrs Snaggles again, not just Mummy and Daddy Snaggles.

Could you make that macaroni meal for tonight, but save yours & stu's until the kids are sorted and then set the table etc? Perhaps a candle or two?

Yes, I might give it a go Sea, thanks. A few days ago I would have said we were one of the happiest couples I know - I just don't know how we've got like this really, I hope it's just a passing phase.
