I'm having a DFW baby!!
Comments
-
At the risk of being pelted with rotten tomatoes by everyone who has ever had a baby, Natasha slept for 8 hours last night, for the 3rd night running. :A
I actually feel a bit guilty because I think she must be absolutely starving when she wakes up, but no amount of prodding will wake her unless she wants to be woken.
I've finally taken the plunge and bought some re-useable nappies. I've only bought a very small pack (2 wraps and 6 nappy pads) plus some liners and some nappy soak, and that lot cost £25, so I need to make sure we get on with them okay before I decide whether to buy any more.
I've worked out that to make them pay for themselves, I need to use them for 40 days (6 nappies per day, so 240 uses in total) - it doesn't sound a lot, but I only tend to do a whites wash twice a week, so using them 2 days a week, it will take 20 weeks before I actually save any money. But either I'll use them for the next babyor sell them on eBay afterwards, so one way or another they should be cheaper!
Me and Stu have also decided to have a take-away free month too, which is well underway - we're too skint to buy any take-aways now anyway!"I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Hope that you get on ok with them.
Great news on N's sleeping.

Good luck with the reuseables
Kiddicare do a good discounted price for a whole load and NCT sales are good for them too sometimes. Do your coucil offer a cash incentive for using them? Might be worth checking out.
Really pleased she's sleeping for now. I'm sure you'll need the sleep as she'll be coming up to a growth spurt soon
My DD keeps begging for another baby - eeek! Especially a baby sister lol. Don't see it somehow!!

ok, i feel a bit silly asking, but how do you use reusable nappies? i got some from a local scheme when ds was born, but the one time i tried one, lets just say there was leakage... it went straight in the washer and was banished to the bucket it came in.
what do you do with the soak and is there really a boy fold and a girl fold for the liner?

I'll let you know how I get on with them - it might be a complete disaster and a waste of money, but I would have been disappointed with myself if I hadn't at least tried them.
I haven't actually tried them yet because you have to pre-wash them (which I've done today), so I'll try them tomorrow hopefully, but here's what I've worked out so far - there's basically 3 parts - the liner, the nappy pad and the cover. You fold the nappy pad (yes, there's a girl fold and a boy fold, and numerous other folds too, depending on where you need the thickest bit to be - but some girls suit the boy fold better and vice versa), pop a liner on the top, and then stick the whole thing inside the cover. Then you just put it on like you would a disposable nappy.
When they're full, you can flush the liner down the loo (the liner should catch the majority of the poo, although it wont at first while it's still so watery), and then you put the nappy pad in the wash, and put a new pad & liner inside the cover. The covers themselves are wipe-clean, so don't need to be changed each time. You can get washable liners too, but I haven't bought any of those.
The ones I've got say you don't need to soak them, just put them in a covered bucket, but I think I would rather soak them."I wasn't wrong, I just wasn't right enough.":smileyhea97800072589250 -
Thanks for that, i think ill give them another go!!! ds is on solids now so no need to worry about watery poo anymore.
Natasha is gorgeous btw!!!*~*Eleventh Heaven*~*

I hope things aren't too difficult between you Snaggles, arguing is horrible isn't it. Will you get a chance to nap today, while Natasha's snoozing?Don't stress, relax, let life roll off your backs.
