Sat 1st/Sun 2nd May - What small DFW things have you done today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free
Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important

Yay for dancing M and M's!!!!
Today is not going to me that DFW for me, but the kids will have a great time hopefully!
Today I have/will:
-[STRIKE] Check banking, faster payments weren't working yesterday so couldn't pay the rent[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Clean kitchen and do all the washing up[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]- Tidy and vacuum living room[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]- Sort clean HC[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]- Take kids to indoor play area for DN's birthday
- Take snacks with us as it's expensive in there for rubbish[/STRIKE]
- Might go to the cuckoo fair later if it's not raining, have you ever been Lurleene?
-[STRIKE] Hot water on all morning due to vast amounts of washing up/cleaning to do[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Had to put fuel in my car yesterday, normal top up day is Monday[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Might pop into work later to see if Amazon bargains have arrived in post for kids, and[/STRIKE] T shirt for DB
[STRIKE]- Tidy and vacuum all three bedrooms[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]- Tidy and clean bathroom[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]Batch cook Millies cookies
[/STRIKE]
Problem is, all this tidying/cleaning has to be done before 9.30, hence being up early! Might bribe DSD to help!

Morning ladies!
Thought I'd get up and walk the dog before the rain that's forecast.
Quite a bit to do today so I'd better make a start....- Walk dog x3 for free exercise
- Bought teaching jobs paper
- Think about what to teach in interview on Thursday
- Do weekly shop at Mr S (have some Nectar points to put towards bill)
- Go to butchers for meat for OH
- Go to Trafford Centre to buy shoes for christening tomorrow - this is really necessary as I have no decent black heels anymore and have another christening next weekend that I'll wear the same frock and shoes to (different people so will be ok)
- Buy christening pressie - ordered a lovely frame online but it got lost in the post - company refunded the money yesterday
- Hoover and dust house
- At least one load of washing
- Supposed to be going to cinema later with OH and will use Pizza Hut gift card they gave me when I complained about something for tea
- Been to cashpoint for cash for the week
- Some marking (if I can be bothered)

Morning all :hello:
Happy bank holiday weekend!Sadly, I'll be working and revising all weekend but feeling upbeat: my essay has to be in on 17th May, exam on the 28th May and then lectures finish for the summer on 11th June...not too long to go!
My list looks something like this:- Have checked online bank accounts
- About to go to local shop for the paper - my weekend treat
- Stick to SW and meal plan all day
- Take pup for a lovely walk on the beach
- Not using car today
- Sunny here at moment so try and weed front garden
- Couple of phone calls using free minutes
- Revision revision revision!
- Also need to do two observation write ups and feedback form regarding work placement
- Bit of housework
- DH away tonight as he is having a night out with friends in his old hometown...so a quiet night for me watching Dr Who and reading bits of the paper

Think I've just made my mum's day....
She's been having a bit of a tough time lately - her mum has dementia and lives in a nice home but is getting worse every day - my mum visits almost every day and has her out over the weekend but its getting very hard and she's starting to forget who my mum is (Nan is 91). It's really upsetting my mum and she just sounds down at the moment.
I've just rung her and asked if she and my sister would like to visit for the weekend in a couple of weeks and she sounded chuffed to bits!
They live in South Wales - I "emigrated" to Manchester years ago and we don't see each other as much as we should but we speak on the phone every day.
Dad will be fine playing golf and having a drink with his mates so a girly weekend shopping and eating will be had (my OH will get out of the way too!)
It was just nice to hear her happy for a change!0 -
Morning all!!!
Triangle - Not long to go...my exam is on the 17th of june and then we don't go back until spet too!! Woohoo!!! month and a half to go!!!
Right today i will (i have done nothing yet other than read MSE!!)

food shopping!
Find DD1 a nice price lunch box

dinner from meal plan
check my supermarket for grocery deals
iron clothes that need ironing only!
Thats about it!!!
Overpaid littlewoods by £170 yesterday and got it below the £500 mark!!! pretty pleased!
Lovely DFW meal last night. Was with the skittle team....paid for it in march so it felt free last night! My mum bought me one drink and then i had water from the table and the free cup of tea that came round! So no money spent!
I hope everyone has a great day...looks a bit dull in the skies here!Orange Fairy

Thanks for the messages Triangle and Littlekel!
Am just trying to think about what we can do that doesn't cost much, will cheer her up and is fun?
Just to let you know my sister uses a wheelchair so that rules out some activities, I'm skint and mum is 63.
Any suggestions would be gratefully received!
We always go shopping and eating so maybe something for a change would be a good idea. I've looked into theatre and shows but there's nothing on thats worth spending £25 each on a ticket.
Ladies I need your help!0 -
Morning girls! OMG Josie you've been so busy at such an ungodly hour!!!
rachel that's lovely :A
Ok 2 days off so going to ensure they are as lovely as possible so I can actually do some work next week (have been so preoccupied with everything going on with dd haven't been applying myself at all, so need to be rested. Have decided in July when I have paid off majority of debt (will only have loan which will be less than £1000) I am going to get a different job, less hrs, less responsibility and very likely take a pay cut. but think I need to focus on my family and have realised if I can clear £5600 in 6 months I can afford a drop in salary)
Ok today:- [STRIKE]have worked out my weekly spend figures[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]go to the po before 12 and pay in bill money (still haven't done it!
)[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]pay rent
[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]work out meal plan and shopping list for month[/STRIKE]
- [STRIKE]join the grocery challenge[/STRIKE]
- go to the museums if it doesn't rain?
- clean bathroom
- make mil's birthday present (its her birthday tomorrow
)
