No Buying Toiletries in May Challenge!!

Afternoon ladies & welcome newbies, really windy and cold here today.

DD arrived home on Friday & ate out at KFC with her boyfriend, she has been so poorly since with really bad sickness, cannot even keep a glass of water down; she looks dreadful so washed out and pale.

Today I have been through my use up basket and binned the following as they smelt funny:-

Tube of Balmbalm.

Surgeon's Secret Lavender moisturizer in a twist up tube.

Use up's Colgate toothpaste, have 17 tubes in my stash due to Morrisons glitch.

Listerene mouthwash, have 2 more Colgate's in my stash.

With DD not feeling well we have not been shopping & lunch out as planned, the internet has been an excellent substitute not mentioning any names TARA for DD

I also have a scrubby soap I want to use up and an old Olive Oil soap from H&B that I'm trying to use up. I'm nearly done with a very old tiny pot of Burt's Bees night eye cream and I have some sweet almond oil that I'll use once in place of it once it's gone.

Reading this thread has finally given me the courage to try and sell some of my old stuff elsewhere. I kept wanting to hoard it, thinking I'd get around to it at some time, but now I realise I just want it to go to a happy home where someone will use it!

I am also going to NOT buy any sunscreen (even past this month, I promise!) because I have a ridiculous amount now, but the vast majority of it are types that work. So hopefully we're graced with the sun's presence a lot this month to help me out! :rotfl:

Hi all

Gosh its hard to believe that its going to be summer in a month or so. think I need to start trying out my various body tanning creams whilst I can still cover them up if I get 'tangoed' or end up streaky:eek: and see which ones are working best for me and which have quite possibly gone off. Have a bit of my Virgin Vie body lotion to finish and then onto my experiment.

No use ups but my body lotion, body scrub, P&P serum and conditioner are all close to being used up so hopefully some use ups to report during the week.

My aim in May is to spend no more than £10.

I'm still in! Haven't bought a single toiletry item, bar some mouthwash on a BOGOF at the local pound shop, since last October. I don't have a room-sized stash like some ladies on here but what little I do have just seems to be lasting and lasting, especially that facial moisturiser I bought in the pound shop last summer which still has half left. Under normal circumstances I'd have got bored with it and bought something else but penury says "NO!"

There is just something addictive about Lush isn't there! I went a bit mad in December/January and still have loads to use up.

Whilst I don't think I could ever sell any of my Lush mountain, maybe selling some of my stash would be a good idea. Has anyone had success with ebay? I did do as someone suggested on last month's thread and made up a couple of toiletry bags and took them to my local hospital, but it went a bit weird. I put a travel size shower gel, body lotion, soap, hand cream and some sachets of face products in each one. The lady at the reception area looked a bit bemused at me and just said "oh ok then, thanks" when I explained what they were, and shoved them on a shelf under her desk. I went away thinking I hadn't really explained myself properly and I hoped they do get to someone who will benefit from them. I should have gone back - damn my shyness Hmmm probably won't do that again and may try to make up some for a charity shop to sell instead this month.

Maybe that will be a personal challenge for me this month - use stuff up sure, but also try to give more away and maybe sell some stuff too. I will still have enough of certain stuff (shower gels, body lotions/butters etc) to last until 2011.

Hi Lynsey I would take the Liz Earle one on holiday, and then if you've still got some of it when you come home, you can alternate the two for a bit of variety

Right peeps, I have sorted through all my toiletries (or at least those I could find:eek:) and this is the finished list:o This doesn't include make up/ nail polishes etc as I wasn't sure if they were included. I can't believe how much stuff I have that I never knew about.
