No Buying Toiletries in May Challenge!!
Comments

Argh - was tidying under my desk at work yesterday and found a bag with 3 packs of Boots face wipes, 2 bottle of Trevor Sorbie shampoo, 2 tubes of Olay exfoliator and a bottle of Trevor Sorbie volumising spray in! So in a way it was like going shopping
My new challenge is to see if I can go the rest of the No7 coupon time and the whole of the next Skincare coupon period without buying anything
Used up Elle MacPherson foot butter yesterday. WIBA? Probably, but only on offer. My debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |

That might help with using it up?

I've been lurking here for 2 months waiting to use something up so I can announce it - suddenly all my toiletries have developed everlasting life! I have not bought anything for 2 months though so thats good. My main goal is to use up what I have (I have a mini suitcase full of stuff!), establish what products really work for me and stick to them rather than being taken in by flash advertising, as well as simplify the amount of products I use. I have 4 teen daughters too so I think if I can pass on to them what I learn I'll be helpng set them up for a debt free life!
Right now I'm using...
Shampoo & Conditioner
L'Oreal Elvive royal jelly - lovely smell seems to work well on my dry frizzy hair
Bodywash
Gok Wan Gorgeous - from a giftset from C'mas, smells decadent and devine but not really moisturing enough for me.
Facewash
BS vitamin E - Leaves face clean and moisturised, though the smell is a bit odd. I'm just using this up as I've recently started using the OCM.
Body lotion
Dove pro age body cream oil - Quite impressed with this as most lotions are too watery, this one is rich.
Body butter/creme
Standard Blue Nivea tub - works well on feet, knees and elbows, though very perfumed.
Handcream
Dove regenerating night - works well
Face Daycream
Lidl Iseree antiwrinkle - quite impressed with this seems to firm things up a bit. Just finishing it now.
Dove Summer Glow - has the odd fake tan smell but absorbs well and works.
Face Nightcream
Aldi Nightceam - happy with this for now.
Eyecream - Yves Rocher soothing decongesting eye care - feels nice and soothing on.
Toothpaste - Tesco's own.
Whew!
Next thing I have to buy is hair serum - I used to find it in pound shops in UK, but since moving to Ireland I haven't been able to find it so cheaply, and I'm annoyed abbout having to shell out E8 for something that may not work - I have bought so many products that just did not work on my long dry hair. My last tube was Got2b glossy anti frizz shine serum bought for a pound in Birmingham - lasted me over a year and worked great. My Mum used to use Vitapointe on my hair when I was little so thinking of giving that a try since its quite affordable. No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -
Hi all,
Some great posts - congrats Lostinrates - apps I missed your news while posting before!
Hi to shandyclover looks like you've got some nice bits in your stash to enjoy! Brill find under your desk Lilian! Had a look under mine just in case and all I see are files, wires and other equally dull things! Lots of nice things on the top though...
Scored a freebie tub of Vasaline Aloe Vera lipbalm when my collegue gave it to me unused. Also still using up my free wee pots of BS Cocoa Butter BB and Hemp hand cream - which is actually working spectacularly! Also have my little tub of beekeepers lavender lipbalm which has lasted me two years and only cost £1.50! It's really nice - like the rose moisturiser it's all natural too. Don't really want to use that up!
I have finished off a Simple hand cream - it was alright but not rich enough for me.
Hope you're having a nice day all, I'm awaiting the delivery of my new phone... gah, want to play with it now! Hope it arrives before I leave the office!
Talk to ya'll later :T0 -
Afternoon :wave:I recived the last of my 3 body shop orders today:o Good news is that the cheap items were OOS on one of them but i still got the 2 expensive items for free. I can reduce the toiletry spend in my signature to £7.60 and feel much less guilty now:D
I started using the aloe spf moisturiser on Friday and I'm really liking it. My skin has broken out in angry spots again recently and I definitely feel that this has a nice soothing effect on them. I use the deodorant from this range as well which I highly recommend, leaves you with a lovely clean feeling and no messy/sticky feeling that you can get when applying some other roll ons. The only down side is that it is unscented. I also have a dove green tea and cucumber roll on on the go, lovely scent with this one but it feels much more messy when applied IYSWIM and I don't like that. My perfect deodorant ever was Bliss underarmy but they have now discontinued it:( It had the most gorgeous clean minty smell and I loved wearing it. When I run out of my current stash I will probably buy the BS one again, unless I get back to the US first to stock up again on the almay roll on (my second ever favourite).:starmod:C'est la vie:starmod:0 -
Hi Claire - what does IYSWIM mean?!

Hi girls, just a quickie, back from quick shopping trip to Liverpool and about to go to work:(
Bought this, with the £5 No 7 voucher, so it only cost 75p and it's quite big. Wondering how effective it will be at preventing colour fade? Testing it out soon hopefully in the sun, Greek strikes and ash clouds permitting, so will report back.

Not taking too much notice of the Boots reviews now tbh, after what someone on MSE said about only the positve reviews they submitted appearing. Also the first review on the site doesn't make much sense to me, she says she's in and out of the sea and pool on holiday and how nice this product kept her hair, so she didn't need to wash it as often ?????????
Also had a £3 Sanctuary voucher from Mother's Day gift set, used that to buy some Sanctuary wipes which will be handy for freshening up on holiday. They were £3.99, less the voucher.
Today's total spend was therefore £1.74 and I had a couple of quid left on an old gift card so effectively no-new-spend purchases for me!!
That's my kind of toiletries shopping.
