Sorry to hear your news Keiss. My thoughts are with you.

No NSD today. Finally got grocery shopping done and spent £125  on............well not much really. Must remember not to take the family shopping with me. They put things in the basket without me realising . At least if I go by myself I stick to my shopping list.

No plans to spend now till next week.......

Not up to nattering today, trying ot come to terms with the death of my friend and "surrogate granny" who died on Friday. She was 90 the week before, and we had a lovely meal out, I just can't believe she has gone.

I'll come back later on in the week if that's ok.
((((hugs)))) Keiss, I'm so sorry to hear your news.
Something like this puts everything into perspective. Hope you have lots of happy memories to look back on.

    ((hugs)) for Keiss

Well......... not an NSD for me today, even though it should have been

Hit the garden at 8:15am (far too early), then broke off at 11:45 for a trip to a local garden centre (a couple of bits I needed for the garden, and a birthday pressie for OH - none of which counts as spends for this challenge or the Frugal Living one). On the way back I called in at DD's and loaded the car with stuff she wanted taking to the tip. Next stop tip.

But I called in work on the way home from there (have to pass it on the one-way system), as I remembered last night that one of the girls had asked if I could do a shift swap this week (such that I picked up part of her shift next Saturday in return for some of my hours during the week) - but nothing had been confirmed, and after today she's not in until Thursday.... turns out I needn't have bothered as she doesn't need the swap anymore, as she's not going out now.

Didn't like to leave my purse in the car, but I honestly didn't mean to check out the Whoopsies :o

Came home with 3 large blocks of the cheap mature cheddar (each around the 840-900g mark, and half price so - give or take pennies - £7.50 instead of £15 for the lot), 5 individual chicken & mushroom pies (DS has been asking for a change from potato & meat) reduced to 19p each (instead of 57p each or 2 for £1) and a 400g tub of the cheese & onion sandwich filler I love but only ever buy when Whoopsied (45p instead of £1.95)

Should now have enough cheese in until at least the end of next month (probably July), given I still have 4 x 380g blocks of BOGOF Mature Irish Cheddar I picked up last Sunday, plus another 400g block of mature cheddar and 6 or 7 small pieces of other cheeses (cheshire, lancashire, brie, stilton with dates and others.......)

Sorry about your sad news, Keiss. It's things like that which put the whole financial situation into perspective - when you come down to it, it's only money, and not real money at that, just numbers in a virtual world far removed from real life. At least your friend had more than her allotted "three score years and ten" - hope she made the most of it and had a peaceful end.

You always put things so well Nargleblast - just what I wanted to say but couldn't find the words. My thoughts are with you Keiss xx

Small spend day for me today, just a few groceries which I am hoping will see us through the week Lovely long ride on the horse through the hills in the sunshine this morning, followed by an afternoon repairing jumps - got a bargain set of used showjumps a few weeks ago (I went halves with my mate), normally they cost hundreds but we got them for a fraction of the price :):) Just need a few sunny afternoons to get them repainted now.

Cheryl - your house sounds like cheese heaven!! Though if that was my house it would never last until July .....

Hope you have all had a lovely weekend xx

I eat faaaaaaar more than is good for me calorie-wise, but it's about the only way I get any calcium into my diet. A pint of milk can last me the best part of 2 weeks, and I rarely eat yoghurts at all (probably no more than a couple of dozen in a year at the most).

Reporting in with just the second NSD of the month so far!:j:j:j
Its grocery shopping day tomorrow but I don't count that as a spend day as its budgeted for and happens every week - I'll try really hard to not sped anything else to keep me on track.
Off to watch 24 and have an early night.

Thank you sooo much everyone for your kind words...they mean so much to me. You are right Nargleblast, there are much more important things than money.

My friend had a wonderful life, shot through with patches of trouble. She became wheelchair-bound about 4 years ago, and had to go into a nursing home a year-and-a-half ago, but was still quite an independant lady, with a quick mind and a sharp wit. She was always dressed smartly, with everything co-ordinated, right down to the ear-rings! All this despite being unable to walk for quite a few years. As she said...it was only her legs that stoppped working (as well as a few other things), not her mind!

I have not talked to anyone about my friend's passing yet other than you and my DH. Still haven't managed to get in touch with my friend's family, but hope to tomorrow.

    Did make
today an NSD, but won't tomorrow. Have a physio appointment in the morning and need to top up on milk...as well as compost and some plants for pots and hanging baskets.

We got quite a bit done in the garden today...DH and DS2 worked wonders...perhaps they felt they could cheer me up by actually doing some of the million things on the garden list!! It worked a bit, as did gardening myself. You can see where we have been today!

My therapist reckons that I get a touch of SAD, and really need to get outside and work with plants and the soil. I have to admit it did help me come through my last bout of depression. In fact, being creative, making something seems to help...well some of the time.

Off to bed for an early (for me!) night...thanks again for all your kind words.

  • CW18: Just downloaded your spreadsheet. Took one look at it, put my knickers on my head, stuck two pencils up my nose and said 'wibble' HSjester.gif

Seriously though, what a great spreadsheet :T:T:T:T

Had a quick go at putting in some figures and scared the life out of myself, do I really spend that much each month? (unfortunately the answer was a resounding YES).

I don't think I'm brave enough to live frugally at the moment but rrreeeeespect (*Clicks fingers in an Ali G kinda way*) to those that do.

Would it be possible CW18 to put a link to the spreadsheet on this thread? (If that's alright Solventsoon) in case other NSDers would like
to use your spreedsheet. I know quite a lot of NSDers are also on the Frugal Living thread so would probably know about it anyway but those who aren't wouldn't. (Thanks)
