2.5 v6 doesnt usually suffer with HG failure, the assembly is all different to the 4 cyl K series, i.e the headbolts dont travel allway to the crank.

the most part of HG faulires of rovers k series was the rubber seals for water and oil returns in the gasket itself wich BGA gaskets cured by replacing this with a multi layer steel headgasket and still used with a headsaver (to take up the skim).

ive seen more HG failures with 1.0 1.2 1.4 8v VX corsa's than rovers at the moment.

every car has their common faults.

you dont warn people off pugs because of the gearboxes and electricals (wich is dearer to replace a gearbox than a HG in a rover).

too much bashing of rover in my opinion, ive owned a few, it was reliable, durable, cheaper to insure than a fiesta handled better than most cars of its size, and the older models are still going 95 on and earlier, i see plenty around, dont see many mk3 fiesta's theyve rusted into the past. dont see many escorts Lreg m reg N reg theyve rusted into the past,(except those that really took care of the GTI's). jeeze ive seen a 05 plate KA with rust along the door and around the filler cap butu we dont tell people that fords will decay around your ears within a few years.
