I'd love to to live on an estate all by myself. I'd buy all the houses together for the privaledge!

The problem's not the housing, or the price. It's the location. They're in the middle of nowhere, with nothing else there. No work, descent transport links, no public transport, no shops, miles from schools, parks, anything community orientated...etc etc...etc

I've driven out from Shannon Airport, through County Clare, to Galway, down the coast and back through Limerick. Beautiful scenery and dotted along the way, all these new build impressive looking houses. Yes, lovely to live there but mostly isolated and the big towns were not as appealing as I thought they might be.

    Just compares the population densities.
    http://www.worldatlas.com/aatlas/populations/ctydensityl.htm

    UK: 639.42 people/sq.mile.
    Ireland: 147.99 people/sq.mile.

BTW, using the same argument for Australia doesn't work given the huge swathe of uninhabitable outback.
In case you hadn't already worked it out - the entire global financial system is predicated on the assumption that you're an idiot:cool:

Who actually owns these places and how much are they selling (or not) for?

if i was that woman, i would be renegotiating with the mortgage company fast. why pay a mortgage on something with zero value? Just tell the bank to cut the mortgage by 70% or else, walk away and let them sell it for zero. you may lose your "equity" but you've lost it anyway.

The mortgage company would come after any shortfall and probably bankrupt her.

    Interesting figures.

How I keep hearing from Cameron (sure I heard it on the debate the other night as well) that we're the most overcrowded nation in Europe?
We're about the same as Germany and way behind the Netherlands and Belgium.

England taken as a separate nation is the most overcrowded I believe apart from Malta, not the whole UK though obviously.
