What is new deal?

Yes, I am a fully qualified teacher
Good for you. That potentially makes you thousands of times better than the ignorant unqualified riff-raff who comprise the bulk of these ‘trainers’. On the other hand, you might be one of those ‘teachers’ who fled the profession before Chris Woodhead had a chance to sack them for incompetence; there’s a fair few of them sprinkled around these bogus ‘training’ companies.
and have had experience of at least twenty other jobs so I also have a bit of an idea about job-hunting.
And I have probably been skiing around that number of times. Perhaps I should be a ski instructor.
At this stage in my life, I am truthfully not money-motivated and I work for self-satisfaction and to try to help others.
Up to a point possibly, but you are not doing voluntary work. You are being paid.
I will not do anything which is a scam or money for few.
Then you will not be employed by these ‘training’ outfits for very long. The other half are either completely disillusioned
But, sadly, probably not so disillusioned as to have voted for any political party other than the three main ones that are guilty of having created this mess.
or lack any sort of education for a modern work-place.
‘modern work-place’ = politically correct twaddle to disguise three decades of idiot politicians doing everything possible to wreck the economy and destroy as many jobs as possible except for their mates in finance.
I have given them all a really good "pro-forma" to personalize and use).
Good. And now that you have done at least a third of any good these phoney ‘training’ scams ever do, what will you be doing the other weeks and months the victims will be with you?Several in the class quietly thanked me and said that this had been useful. Believe me, this cheered me up.
Well, that’s something, and way more than most of these ‘trainers’ would or should ever get.0 -
as per below,
its a huge waste of time new deal = new crap my experience of this is exactly like Prinzessilein says.all sheep fodder gathered in one place for cheap labour ive paid 50k in NI and dont se why i had to suffer this total crap.Prinzessilein wrote: »From my personal experience of New Deal...I used to work as a tutor for a number of providers....they are a colossal waste of time. You sit around in a room, sharing a newspaper to search for jobs. There is supposedly a computer available - but it is generally used by people typing out a CV. However good your CV is, the provider will slate it because it is the only task they have for you to do. Then you will be sent out on work-experience. This will likely as not be a charity shop or a pound shop who will take you on for up to six months - they are delighted as they get a free employee - don't expect any training there, and certainly don't expect it to lead to a job. In fact, don't expect any aspect of the New Deal to lead to a job. Its sole purpose is to get people off the unemployed list and artificially boost the government figures.0 -

umm because you were unemployed and not capable of finding a job for yourself, why else would you get to the stage of being placed on the new deal?
It wasnt because you found a job!!!0 -
ive had horrible experiences of New Deal. One young man who was on the course clearly had issues with drink or drugs he would go to the toilet then come upstairs and be acting strangely. He was told to leave the building and we watched him stagger to the station from the window. He clearly shouldnt have been there.
The room where the papers were was full of people swearing and messing around on the computers. Nobody wanted to be there it was unpleasant. In the induction week people messed around the tutor was uncomfortable.
You werent given much help the staff always seemed to be on the computer and they were clearly understaffed.
I am on fnd now just started dont know if its changed much hope so. I was due an appt tomorrow but the trainer phoned and said dont come i am on a course come next week instead.:footie:0 -
i'm on fnd and in a way its worse. i say that because i am constantly made to feel like scum by my advisor. i have been on it for 3 months all it has involved so far is a 30 minute interrogation once a fortnight. the last time i saw her she gave me grief for not going for a job she didnt even tell me about. what happened was a few weeks ago i couldnt go for a particular job for health reasons. when i saw her last and showed her the list of companies i had applied to. she pointed to one and said we had a job from them last week but we didnt offer it to you because you used your illness as an excuse to get out of the last job we offered you. yes she did use that sort of wording. i just said excuse me but you cant hold it against me for not going for a job i wasnt even told about. she then pulled out all the lists of companies i have applied to so far and said you have applied to all these and got knowhere. i think we need to do something different. she then asked me if i had any ideas even though it is her who is paid to do that. i just said look most companies dont want to know when you have been out of work a long time. i said i could do training to get up to date skills. she wasnt interested in that. she then said would you be willing to do a work trial. i said yes. she said she would phone me when they had found a company willing to take me. this was a week ago and i havent heard nothing. she seems to think all i need to do is do a work trial and i will automatically get offered a job.

she also expects me to give up trips that were already booked and paid for before i started the course. she said i am not telling you to give up your trips away but you should decide which is more important. i just thought so you are telling me to give up my trips away. i also thought well if you reimburse the money i paid i will. she seems to think a couple of short weekends away is whats stopping me getting a job and not things like being out of work a long time or the recession.0 -
reply to Snakeeyes21
It will be me who finds a job . Been employed for 30yrs and paid my share of taxes so save that crap for some real layabout.
For people with mortgages, kids to feed and rent to pay etc its no good finding any old job burger flipping job.If you think this scheme is going to work you need a reality check.ummmSnakeeyes21 wrote: »umm because you were unemployed and not capable of finding a job for yourself, why else would you get to the stage of being placed on the new deal?

Are you suggesting that those who say the scheme was good are lying? No doubt some will not have the same opinion but then some people just see it as an inconvenience.0 -
The ones who say these schemes are good are probably working as tutors or work for the goverment.
you dont need to be a rocket scientist to see whats going on here.:D0 -
Not all tutors for New Deal see it as a good thing.
I have in the past worked for Training Providers delivering these courses. I have personal experience of 5 different providers. All of them were similar. All of them were dire. In each case it was shove as many bodies as possible onto the course, bend/break the rules to ensure you get as much money for as long as possible out of these 'clients'. Very few clients will get a job, some will get temporary work. In some cases 90% of the intake would be back to re-do the course.
I am sure that there are honest, decent people out there running these courses. Sadly, each and every course I helped deliver was simply out to make money for the Training Provider and reduce the unemployment figures. Actually helping the clients wasn't a priority.0
