  • Good morning everyone,

well I am in a better mood this morning after yesterday's disaster.

Did eventually clean out the cupboards and have adjusted my meal plan to use up a few store cupboard ingredients.

Having gammon steaks for tonights dinner so that will be easy.

Will do some mince in the slow cooker later and divide it to provide meals throughout the week.

Yesterday was a NSD and I hope for today to be the same.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday.

£11.57 spent since Friday on various things, including 2 pineapples for 50p each!

I've booked the last week of May off work and plan to go away for a few days, but at the moment, i'm not sure where. I'll probably be eating out, so that won't be included in this total, so this month won't really be as accurate as it could be. I'll carry on though and include what I usually would.

Slow cooked some gammon yesterday and it was really salty but didn't want to throw it away so boiled it with some raw potatoes and changed the water a few times.

    Morning!

NJW69- sorry if teaching you to suck eggs but did you soak the gammon overnight to get the salt out first? It really helps to do that :)

Had a NSD yesterday and will do today and managed to come in £1.62 over my set £50ish budget for this week so am feeling better than I did middle of last week. Tons of fruit and veg from the market for £13- I had forgotten how great the market can be when you are looking to save money.

All the inspiration makes such a difference :o :A

Off to stew the apples now- oooh I feel all domesticated again! :D

Hi everyone - at last the weather seems to be improving and everything growing in the Greenhouse etc looks great.

Had a bit of a result at the Allotment the other day, a fellow Allotmenter had an excess of Leeks left in a Bed which weren't wanted so I was told I could help myself, dug out 5 whoppers, made some Leek & potato soup from recipe index on front page, Leek & bacon pasta for Dinner on Friday and a Leek & bacon tart from HFW book - already had bacon, potatoes, eggs etc in so only thing I had to buy was some Double cream so I'm over the Moon. Will return the favour when my fruit & veg gets established.

Today I've also made Millies cookies from the front page recipe index, made them before and they are a real favourite in this House so I recommend everyone to give them a try.

Dinner tonight is Roast chicken and all the trimmings. Not sure about pudding, might just have some Ice cream and choc sauce.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend everyone.

    Well,I'm very sorry,I forgot all about you:o

    I'm back,I think.

We have had a lot going on.
    Easter(with 2 DD and 3 Gchildren for 9 days:eek:)1 also had chicken pox,other 2 later(when they got home:j)
We all then had colds from them,Mum with chest infection.

B-in-law funeral we went to in London, took 2 days.

OU (DH) assignment had to be in and computer had packed up.

Work hours increased as colleague off sick and she has now resigned,at this rate I will never get to retire.

So glad to be back, did OK in March £16 under,£5 over in April, just when I thought I could reduce budget.
    Sadly nearly OTT already tho'

    mrss

Forgot to say had a load of expense W/M has now had 2 callouts @£50 a time plus parts(totalling £150)first, new brushes needed.all OK,then a few weeks later the flipping handle came off in my hand-NOT funny at the time, but could smille 3 days later when my 2 'handwash'jackets came out safely after sitting in there.
Paid balance on holiday, treat for all the family for my 60th(ssh its in July),thats 9 adults and 3 littlies
