    Welcome clothhany & Joanie72.
I had to go into town today & ended up spending nearly £20. This was on squash, veg, bin bags, crisps, bread & cobs, gluten free cereal & g/f cake mix, golden syrup & a bag of millet. I am going to attempt to make gluten free flapjacks for my son with the millet (& syrup) but knowing him he won't like them. I bought him a lovely g/f scotch egg the other day which he turned his nose up at. Looking at my list, I am thinking £20 doesn't really go far particularly when 3 of the items are g/f and are so expensive.

Can you get some g/f items on prescription?
Ask in your pharmacy then go and see your GP

DH went shopping today and spent £69.16 , which leaves us just under £50 until June. It was more this week as I've decided to go on a diet and they always seem to cost loads more (not sure why though as you're meant to eat less :rotfl:). Some of the things he bought will carry on for next week. But he did get some good offers on beef, cheese and teabags, and made a total saving of £5.08

My mum popped round today with some crunchy nut cornflakes to use up :T and I made some muesli flapjack-type things. I noticed the use-by date on the musesli...Sept '09  (I scrubbed it off with my fingernail :shhh:)

    Good evening

Spent £21.77 today on stuff for a lamb stew for dinner and bits for packed lunches for DS and DD2 who are going away with their schools tomorrow. DD1 is over the moon!
I've bought stuff like crisps, Capri Suns (Tesco are doing packs of 5 for £1 which isn't too bad if you have to buy them), biscuits, rolls and apples. Hope they will have enough.
This leaves me with £104.22 til the end of the month. I'm getting a T*sco delivery on Thursday which I need to spend £50 on to qualify for some extra points T*sco have promised me if I do three shops before the end of May. This leaves me with @£50 to play with.
Who knows, I might make it!

Hope everybody had a good weekend.
August Shopping Challenge. 26/8. Budget £250 Spent £256.81.. £6.81 over. So £0.00 a day left.

Thanks mrssnowy. I do get some of his food on prescription such as bread, pasta, flour & some biscuits but this shop was for cereal, a Victoria sponge mix which comes out better than home made & is for a family party next weekend & also some millet which I do not know if you can get on prescription, but thanks anyway.

I spent another £1.35 today on some whoopsied salad & some apple sauce.

    HI all
Had a change of plan yesterday - ended up shopping at MrA as I had to go to Taunton to close down a savings account to pay for a holiday. (Can't get to my local branch during normal work hours and despite writing to them, I was still waiting for the account to be closed a week later... )

Anyway, I dont shop at MrA very often as it's quite a long way from home so it made a nice change and it was a little cheaper than my normal shop.

Today I've made cheese sauce ready for macaroni cheese later in the week and frozen an extra one. Also cooked some lamb mince in the slow cooker ready to make a cheesy topped shepherds pie another day. I'm doing an extra shift at work this week so have to be organised otherwise I'll run out of time to cook anything decent. :rotfl:DS16 has two GCSE exams this week so want to make sure he's well fed too!:rotfl:

We've got about £89 to last until 31 May which should be achievable. The cupboards are pretty full and so are the freezers.

    Have a good week everyone.

Well everythings gone to pot here this weekend, don't know how this has happened, just made myself pull the receipts out of my purse :eek:and added totals up and they amount to £41.11:mad: DH is responsible for some of that went to Mr M and spent £10.20 on lots of whoopsied rubbish + beer:mad: but DD called yesterday to see if I wanted to go food shopping with her, and I did really just to get out of the house and keep her company, and spent £9.42 in Mr M and £3.99 in Aldi!. Did buy a lot for next month but don't think I can keep to target now.:( Saying that I have just checked online banking and honestly I have never had so much money in bank since we were married 30 years ago this year. So its not all bad news
just wished we could have been more sensible with money in the past. :oThey should have lessons for how to manage money for children in schools I know its a parents job to advise but children don't alway listen to their parents.:( Have now totalled amount up to £139.42:eek: thats over by £19.42 will not go near a shop till Friday when new month starts . Have a good week everyone :):)

TheBees, you sound so organised! never tried freezing extra cheese sauce, may give it a try :)

savvyshe, I have less money coming in now but more money in the bank than I ever had; wish I'd had the OS mentality when I was earning megabucks! :D

A small spend for me today as I need some baking ingredients,

    Good luck everyone :j
