Nipped in to Mr A for the Anchor - although they were limiting shoppers to only 3 tubs. Also bought cheese on offer (£2) there and some sweet chilli sauce which neither my Mr T nor Mr S sell. That was it - so not bad! Nipped into Mr T yesterday (needed bread and milk) - bought bread, milk and a 50p pineapple :D

Off to Mr S later to use voucher.... that'll be more than just a few £ :( However, it'll be a good thing overall, as I've got £8 off £40 - and I will be totting up spends on my way round.... :D

Hi, I don't do much posting but I enjoy reading what everyone is up to and how you are all saving money.
I purchased a BM a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it, I am following the recipes in the book that came with it, I was going to make some wholemeal bread but it says add vitamin C is this an important ingredient as I dont have any in and I was going to do a loaf later.

Hiya - I bought my BM in January (I think)... well my OH bought it for me :A. I have not bought a loaf since:T:T:T It's fab, and well worth the money (I got the Panny). Not sure about the Vit C - I tend to do half and half and only ever use flour, yeast, water, sugar, salt and a small knob of butter/margerine. Good luck with it ...

On the GC side, I spent £10.87 today on stuff to make meals with. The self checkout wouldn't take a pound coin and the sales assistant told me it was a forged one!! So my budget is down to £199 :rotfl:

Check the ingredients of your bread flour - some companies add vit C (Ascorbic Acid) to the flour. Lidl's certainly used to have some in.

  • Hi everyone,

well, after all my spending yesterday on various non grocery stuff, i went back to the shops today to do my proper food shop. Im now doing the main food shop once a week on a Fri or Saturday and im finding it SO much easier, dont know why i didnt start doing this months ago. Absolutley everything in this house is organised on a monthly basis-salary, bills, rent, petrol-so just did the same with shopping but wasnt working so had to have a change. Top-ups seem to be becoming less frequent this way, so that can only be a good thing, as we all know what happens when we go for those top-ups!!

    So today i spent-

£15.00 in butchers on meat and eggs

£5.30 on the market for loads of fruit and a cucumber and mushrooms

£8 in Pound shop on milk and other bits

As far as i can see the only thing i will definately need is the good old milk! I have ample supplies of everything and a meal plan in my head.

I think i will come within budget this month, but luckily dh has had some agency work for a few days so we should survive next month when im expecting it to be extra tight for various reasons.

    Night all x

It can be made without the vitamin C, i used to crush a tablet and add some but don`t bother now.
Another vote for the half white/half wholemeal here - its lovely

Planning on starting the GC again soon :p
