Do other people use Dove Farm yeast? It's £1.20 a pkt, lasts for ages and makes lovely bread. First I've had to buy for 2 or 3 months, and I make all our bread.

I do - I find it much nicer than the other stuff in little sachets :-)

Stopped in at Mr. A for some milk and ended up getting 10 packs of butter too. :rotfl:

For the butter lovers (I'm stashing mine for future bake-a-thons) out there..... the Anchor block butter 500g and the spreadable 500g too are just £1.14 per pack. Usually I get own brand, but that's 85p (+/-) for 250g so a much better deal on the Anchor :D

5kg in the freezer shall do me nicely ;)

OO=hhhhhh - I need to go to Mr S tomorrow (voucher to use before expiring at w/end) - I could pop 1/2 mile down the road to Mr A too....... hmm- can I work it into budget?.....

Spent £43 today in Mr T on the majority of next week's shop and stuff for the weekend when we have visitors (hence the early shop, usually a Saturday).

Yet again, more than I wanted to spend but still just about on target overall.
    Why is it sooo hard!?

And another spend of about £8.73 today for me. This was on strawberries, grapes, cucumber & some more cobs all from the market plus bananas (that I forgot at the market), muffins and yogurts from the co op. Will update signature now.
I had nothing out of the freezer ready for dinner tonight and so I did a tuna pasta bake with sweetcorn, mushrooms & red pepper plus a whoopsied jar of pasta sauce and was quite pleased cos I worked out it was a fairly cheap meal so will do that again.

Knitwit67 - I haven't made the gluten free flapjacks with the millet yet. It is probably a job for the weekend but will let you know when I have. I am just going to try & adapt a normal recipe with oats.

Evening all - does today count as a NSD or not?
I gave £1 to the girl in the office for the milk, £2 to the other one for my lottery dues, and volunteered a whole £1 for DD after she walked the dog before I got home from work.
Oh, just remembered DD also bought a loaf of bread at my behest, so that was £1.25, so I guess not. Still not a bad day though! Did egg fried rice for tea, and looking at the stores in the kitchen I reckon I've got enough for the rest of the month, just going to need bits, bobs and dog meat.
    Yay!
    Trying to be better . . .

Freakyogre - can I ask what zorbing is? I've never heard of it1

    Sorry, only just saw this.

Zorbing is bouncing (well, more rolling) down a hill in a big ball! We went here and did both the harness and hydro one, both of which were great fun :D

    Hi all

quick update as away at a wedding & mums house for next 4 days. Really dissapointed in myself as popped into mr t almost every night this week for nothing really - and spent £18. Unfortuately I drive past every night after work and always seem to need just the one thing......grrrrr.

Only got £30 for until the end of the month so it's gonna be tough. Plus side I am planning to join a gym on Tuesday so will have less time to waste shopping and something else to focus on - well that's the plan. Going to see if there are any good diet support threads on mse - any recommendations?

    Thanks everyone and good night.:)

Welcome jet77 and FelineFantastic :hello: MrsMc will be along to add you to the front page list shortly, Good Luck!

Spiggles, its not like you to be down, and you're always so supportive to everyone; please go easy on yourself and think of the positives not the negative, as pipersky said, think of what you were spending before you started the GC ;)

Fellow Pratchett fans will appreciate that this is a Vimes theory of Boots situation! ... .
Samuel would be proud of you! :rotfl:

I've planned meals for next week and should only need to buy salad veg; I still have about 30 meals left in freezer/cupboards; I'm doing well in using up and its becoming very clear what is useful to have in and what not, for when I restock before winter

I hope the pear and chocolate upside-down cake is a success for you intrepid bakers! :D
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

    Morning Missy Dee!

In an effort to avoid all the Mr's on the way home from work I started using a milkman and its saved me a fortune! Honestly I used to pop in for milk and end up getting a basket full. Also my milkman is from a local dairy and its just as cheap as the shops and then will deliver other stuff like gardening goods which saves me lugging heavy stuff in the car! :D

Thanks Rosiebien for the welcome- am trying to be in the right mindset and in that spirit off to the market for fruit and veg shortly! Also could you please point me in the direction of the pear and choc upside down cake- seems like a combination of good things to me!

    Good luck today everyone!

Kadeeae - that is a bargain for butter but if I went to Asda I would get carried away with other stuff.

Know what you mean, if you cave in you could spend way more than what you would save on the butter! Mind, I did very well getting only what I was there for, plus the butter of course, must have had my blinders on! :rotfl:
