NSD for me today I am on a 'use-up' day today as I have quite a bit of fruit and stuff that I want to eat before it gets too past it.I managed to buy half a lb of strawberries the other day and 500 grams of white grapes for 20p each reduced as it was the end of the day so they will be used up in something today I am also going to check through my freezer and see what I can fish out for some dinners this week i am hopefully not going to have to go near a shop this side of the weekend as I seem to have more than enough to keep me going I have some excess milk to be used up today so I will either make a semolina pud for dessert tonight or stretch it out a bit with a small tin of eveaporated milk and make a large rice pud in the slow cooker which will last me several days .Tonight dinner for sure is a thick slice of pork loin from the freezer coated in flour and egg and then rolled in sage & onion stuffing and roasted with some garlicky wedges and brocolli.I must reorganise my freezer list as well as I haven't done that for awhile .I think the only thing I may need over the weekend is some eggs but I'll see how I go and may wait until Monday to get them as if I go to the butchers I may be tempted to buy something else.I am pleased that I haven't spent a great deal so far this month though .

Spent £1.25 on spinach today as it was the cheapest option in Mr T per kg for salad leaves (apart from iceberg but, really, what's the point?). Subtotal updated. Also printed my free McCain's Homefries voucher so will try and use up some freezer stuff over the weekend so I can put them somewhere!

Will be a spend day for me today... need to get a few bits in as I haven't been out for a couple of weeks. Hopefully it will be under £20. Only one week to go so hopefully will still be under budget.

While DH was at his day centre I went out for coffee with a (?)second cousin. We had never met before, and I have only recently got in touch with her thanks to doing family history research. Our grandfathers were brothers. Didn't know she existed until another cousin in Canada told me about her. She just said there was another cousin in England, so it was a nice surprise to find out she only lives about 25 miles from here.

A bit scary! Met up easily enough, as we arranged on the phone what we would be wearing. And, good news, we got on quite well, and find we have a lot in common. And we both have the family nose (!) which is also obvious on the one photo I have of our joint greatgrandmother!

Would otherwise have been a NSD, but spent £5.50 on coffee, toasted crumpets and blackcurrant jam (yum!).

Meant to add above that I didn't have to buy any groceries today, as have half a veggie toad in the hole left from last night, and lots of other stuff in fridge and cupboard.

Quick update as been shopping today, spent £35.52in total between Azda and Morereasons. Hopefully will be able to have at least 2 days as NDS now - famous last words!!
Longtermlurker - Didn’t get round to making the bread today as brought one but next time B/M is on will do one. Brought the flour ready so it will be some time next week I think.

Tea yesterday was H/M Shepherds pie bulked out with carrots, celery, onions and oats - tasted great and DH said it was best one he's had for ages.:D I wondered about telling him what was extra and in the end 'fessed up' but he doesn’t know if I am having him on or not. :rotfl:

Brought some whoopsied kale 32p instead of £1 a bag so had some with tea last night and also did extra mash and kale, mixed them up as a sort of bubble & squeak. Two dishes of it in freezer and also an extra Shepherds pie.:A
Tea tonight will be H/M Chicken and Prawns in spicy Szechaun sauce with rice and fresh pineapple with chocolate sauce for afters.

    Off to update signature now.

    MARCH £62.38/250

Billie-jo, our fave way of eating kale is as a 'bubble and squeak' - I add snipped up smoked bacon to it as well sometimes and it is lush.

Very small spend today - OH went to Ald1 to get a pack of grapes and some of their 'red bull' type drink (for DD2) she drinks more of this sort of thing than I would like but there are some battles I can do without at the moment.

I have made a huge 'cornish' pie. (was going to make pasties but CBA to do them individually) ~Just used a small pack of stew steak I got woopsied last week and some elderly turnips, onions and a couple of potatoes - voila enough for about nine slices. Three meals for the three of us for about £1.20 - not bad at all.

Hi All. Just popped on to update signature by £9.78. Trying not to spent much this month. Just need to make a pudding and I will be set up for the next 3 days at least. Going to have a route through all these receipes i keep printing off and never do anything about. Also have loads photocopied from cookery books I have borrowed from the library so have not had to buy. Don't suppose I'm on my own there? Good luck all.
