  • Hi everyone,

small spend in Mr A today of just under £10. I only went in for tortilla wraps and fajita sauce, but remembered we need cheese, and also picked up some good whoopsies, best one being two of Mr A ready meals that come in a pouch and are usually £2.97 or two for £5 and i paid 50p each:j and four Yeo Valley organic prebiotic yoghurts-my personal fave, and were 50p. Also got a loaf of hovis for 37p, and 3 x 4 pack tin of Branston beans-on offer at moment for £1. So a good few bits for my pennies, cant remember if i got anything else.

I will be going to Mr T (which is effectively my corner shop!) tommorow as we are almost out of milk and need tea bags, i hope my favorite pyramid ones are on offer!

Ive spent the last couple of hours sorting my storecupboard/pantry/larder (delete as appropriate!) and figuring out whats in there and organising it a bit better. Got plenty of essentials, and enough chopped toms to sink a ship! Need a few other bits to keep us topped up but no rush, so all good.

    Night all x

    Hi scotsaver,

We've had our allotment since May 2007 and we absolutely love it :D I can't remember what life was like before. Being out in the fresh air growing veg and then it being on your dinner table it doesn't get any better than that.

We grow all the usual suspects, so far this year we have planted all our potatoes, onions, shallots, peas, added to our fruit patch and planted more asparagus. Like you we have beans and other bits growing in the greenhouse still waiting for the right time.

The only veg we don't have a real lot of success with is parsnips, carrots and turnips. Not sure why maybe we don't have the soil crumbly enough. Not giving up it's not my nature :)

Sounds like you are doing really well on your plot considering you have only had it since December :D

Hi scotsaver, this is only our second year with our half plot, we have divided ours into beds some of which are raised beds (easier for me:D) and also carrots seem to like the raised beds. Have a few bits in at the moment but lots waiting to go out, so much too grow and so little space! I love my allotment:T

Welcome Jo4nne. This is just my second month and I've found it really helpful - I'm still in training though as the urge to just pop to the shops is ever present....

First spend of the month - £55 at Mr T - stocked up on store cupboard stuff and enough fresh f&v,milk, meat etc for 1 week. I've also just ordered some catfood online - a brand recommended on the pet care thread - so buying in bulk should save me a bit of money each month - if they like it that is - mmmm maybe I should have ordered a small bag first!!

Spiggs - your post re:lists made me lol!! It's something I need to do though especially as I've spent a good chunk of my budget and it's only 2nd May:(

Too late now but tomorrow I'm going to list everything in my freezer and stick on the fridge door and try and meal plan.

Have a good BH everyone - Dee

Popped into the supermarket this morning to get milk and found a lot of reduced barbeque type meat left over from the dismal weekend (it rained all the time). As I'm having a barbeque this weekend I picked up a whole heap and they're in the freezer ready for the weekend.
So, a spend of 74.65 F, and a total so far of 126.65 F out of my 200 pw.

HAve meal planned the rest of the week and only need potatoes and probably some more milk.
    Trying to keep in budget.
