Brown sticks his foot in his mouth

What was 'secret' about it? Brown agreed to wear the microphone. He simply forgot it was there and Sky was, if I recall, broadcasting live at the time.
The genie was already out of the bottle and no amount of spin or casuistry from Labour fanatics will get it back in there.0 -
It was a live mike which was failed to be removed by an adviser you can tell it is not a "secret recoding" on the live video.
If any codes had been broken I am sure labour would have taken issue and formed a conspiracy like you.
how come the feed was still being recorded or was broadcast? Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -

lir this is different. dodgy builder filming is pre-approved based on evidence that they are doing something dodgy. they don't just randomly film builders undercover waiting for them to do something dodgy and just show the ones that do.Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0 -
How is the woman a bigot? This is what Duffy said about immigration: "All these eastern Europeans that are coming in - where are they flocking from?" Beyond the fact that she has answered her own question, this statement is profoundly problematic. This sort of talk about immigrants has become more and more acceptable, but we would do well to remind ourselves that it is not acceptable to use animal or geographic metaphors about immigrants. Talk of 'flocks' and 'swamps' serve to cement a sense of immigrants being 'the other'. They are not so different to us. They marry us, drink beer with us, work with us and live side by side with us.
I also think he had nothing to apologise about.....0 -

Thanks, I understand what you are saying, and agree to a degree but like the debate:D
By this token could we thus justify secret film ing the government if they were, say, suggesting another country had weapons that could kill us....wasn't that a dodgy precept?0 -

She is a 66 year old Rochdale pensioner, in an unplanned, unprepared for encounter with the PM - not a leader writer for the Independent.
Incidentally, which towering intellect penned that quote? It's always good to know whom to avoid.0 -

http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2010/jan/17/eastern-european-immigration-hits-wages[There has been] an "unprecedented" influx of some 1.5 million eastern European workers into the UK over the past six years..according to a major report by the Equality and Human Rights Commission
'Unprecedented influx' or 'flood' - take your pick. The choice of words depends on whether you are writing a carefully worded report for a government body or if you're a 66 year pensioner from Rochdale making a spontaneous remark.
The pseudo-outrage about how this woman is a racist or BNP supporter is absurd. It's like a reflex response to years of conditioning by our politically correct culture.0
