  • Might have been worth me doing, but they don't have a single club between them in the whole of Lancashire.Pathetic really :I
This article is a little misleading because these health clubs are only based in certain parts of the country. The travel costs would outweigh any savings made- actually I would probaly end up out of pocket- a note should be put on the article to this effect.
  • just worth mentioning for those like me that commute that the offer excludes cannons city. However, you can take out the offer, join your local club and pay £25 a month to upgrade to a connections membership which would then allow you use the city club.
  • Hi, I work as an independent medical insurance broker and found the comments about Pru Health very interesting.
Feedback from our customers overall has been very positive regarding Pru, which after all is a new player in the medical insurance industry.
However, we have concerns regarding the longer term as these incentives are flooding fast and furious when long term pricing is really down to claims and overhead controls - neither of which are strong areas for Pru Health.
My only caution to anyone looking at this offer is ask yourself why you want medical insurance first. There are many offers available as the market is highly competitive at the moment. Freebies and special offers are used to seduce peolple into joining, once you have claimed for a medical condition - you are in many respects tied in... all for a £100 Boot vouchers or cheap gym membership.

All I can advise is a) get the motives right and b) use an independent specialist broker to avoid falling into the honey trap!

Overall though, it is a good policy and worthy of investigation, however we are noticing some increase in renewal premiums already when not expected due to the way the contract works.

Have fun and keep those eys peeled...

The gym network is changing all the time as Pru Health negotiate with their partners. This is likely to expand - however these things also have a tendency to shrink as well...

I wouldn't personally buy this product just for the free gym offer, however if you use the gym regularly and are concerned aboput medical insurance - its not a bad offer. As a point of reference, renegotiate with your existing insurer if already insured, some are prepared to offer similar offers to retain business...

TBH medical broker, I think this article is more about getting gym membership for a bargain price regardless of the medical insurance.

I could get the medical insurance for £17 ish a month which = £102 for 6 months .

That would also get me the free gym membership for 6 months. After the 6 months I would cancel.

Take into account the Quidco £115 cashback and i'll be effectively getting paid £13 for taking 6 months gym membership.

Who cares about the health insurance at that rate!!!

Would appreciate it if others who took out the earlier offer could share their experiences of this. Is it hard to cancel; did they have any trouble activating the gym membership?

The council-run gym near me charges more than the policy would, so this is a great offer.

Can I just make it clear that if people are signing up to this with the intention of quitting after 6 months, they will have to then pay the £25 activation fee.

I've done the maths and it is still worthwhile, but I wanted to let people know.

My quote is £19 a month..

    so 19 x 6 = 114
    - 115 quidco = +£1 - surely that can't actually be right.. oh and minus the £25 for cancelling.. hmm..

I am interested in these comments as I have been thinking of changing my medical insurance and I particularly like the whole package at Pruhealth, I have sent off for the information pack and am very tempted, this was before the free gym offer. However my one worry is that this is a fairly new company, I hold an existing policy and am well aware how premiums shoot up but what if the company shuts up shop, ie if the product is not making a profit and they close down. I am 48 and currently healthy but if I say develop high blood pressure I would then have that excluded from other policies I took out. So to summarize is the product sustainable in the long term.

I can't see the gym offer (when coming in via a quidco referral). Anyone having any luck finding it?

    Thanks
