Ooh - please can I join too?

I want (need :o) to lose about 1.5 stone, so 7lb in May sounds like a great start. I'm invited to a BBQ with some old friends (and an ex!) at the end of June so I need to be fabulous by then!

Does that mean I've just eaten my last bag of malteasers for a while?!

I just wanted to say, you don't have to be a fruitaholic for the weightloss to work. I like fruit but it makes me hungry (fruit sugar?) so I don't eat very much of it. I don't like salads so I haven't had many of them either since commencing the diet and I've had a really steady, positive weight loss :) It's all about knowing what works for you. If you snack a lot, is there any way you can just get rid of all the snacky things in the house and see if that helps break the cycle?

I hope not because I hate fruit :rotfl::o
I eat raw carrot like it's going out of fashion, I like very ripe bananas and I can eat apples but honestly I don't really love 'em.
I have refused to buy choccy and I swear the bloomin' stuff is calling my name  I have given up my baking for the time being (which is my therapy :o some people shop I like to bake :o) so I really don't have much snack-y stuff in the house. Not drinking enough liquids is another BIG problem. I do try but looking after kids I end up distracted (or DS pinches my drink and finishes it!). I know I can do this I just need to remember to think before I put stuff in my mouth :o

  • I'll give my starting weight on Monday as I started SW last Monday and want to see how I do with that too. I am trying so hard not to jump on the scales very day and just to get weighed once per week. i have managed it so far even though they have been calling me every morning :D but I know how demoralising it can be so I am determined not to give in. :A

Good luck everyone - we can do it this month!

Good luck to all! 1st May today, please put me down for a starting weight of 152lbs. My aim is to reach 140lbs as I should fit back into most of my jeans by then! But for May i aim for 7lbs loss and then it will only be another 5lbs to go!

I have been using the calorie counter website and although time consuming at first, once I got going am finding it really useful. I would recommend the website for anyone who thinks they are eating healthily but not losing the weight... it really gives you a good overview of what is actually in each food and makes you more aware! :T

PLEASED TO REPORT - first time ever, I did the 7lb in April :D I think the Weight to Go meals helped although I did substitute some of them as I didnt like some.

Started month on 12 stone 6 and have finished it on 11 stone 13. WOO HOO>

Its a year now but I did start off on just under 15 stone, so Im doing ok. On the final straight really now.(If Im REALLY good, I could reach target weight in 2 months!)

I was just calorie counting and aiming for 1200 calories a day. Last month I bought a month of Weight to Go meals giving roughly 850 calories intake a day - replacing normal intake with 3 shakes and ready pack meals a day plus a portion of fruit and veg but I found the shakes a bit too sickly. So I started the day with a bowl of porridge instead. You have soup for lunch - about 100-130 calories but sometimes Id have something I fancied like a couple of low cal yoghurts instead. Most of the evening meals were quite tasty though.

Oh and I know Kate Moss got slammed for saying it in case it influenced young girls, but her "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels" was something that went through my mind when Id go to the biscuit barrel and actually get out a biscuit to eat. I would think, this will be gone in about 20 seconds and I will feel miserable Ive added 100 calories for such little pleasure.

Big day today with the start of the new month (well, everyday is a big day for my butt, I'm just pleased it's behind me so I don't have to look at it !:o).
I am doing Slimming World so will take my weight from last Wednesday's weigh in and go from there. Good luck to everyone :Tand my advice would be to plan ahead - it's times when you don't know what you're having and haven't got anything out the freezer that I am tempted to eat whatever is available (chippy, toast etc).

The other thing I find is to eat the same as my OH but much smaller portions. Tonight for instance he wanted chicken curry and he wanted rice and a jacket potato with it. I had a small portion of the curry and a lot of salad with mine.

Oh, and the 10 calorie jelly is good too :) Had that tonight with a dollop of low fat greek yoghurt. So you can still eat stuff you like but have a small portion and bulk it up with salad AND eat very slowly with a glass of water to hand. And think twice before you grab the ice cream tub instead of the greek yoghurt :)
