As an aside, it's (Aspartame) now sneaking into many full fat drinks as well, which was the point I was making above.
Because it's cheaper than sugar. I am very alert to this devious practice......0 -

Bloody annoying. I picked up 2 bottles of Tango at the weekend, full fat Apple and Cherry. Both now have Aspartame as an ingredient. I'm allergic to it so had to put it back and mark it as "another drink I can't have"

Already on there. Found out the hard way with a bottle of Fanta0 -
I knew about Fanta and Lilt (used to be my fave pop as a kid), but R Whites? Shocking.
Try to find a concentrated squash without some artificial sweetener - out of a shelf of 3 dozen varieties in a supermarket, there will often only be a couple.
Sugar needs some PR help, I think. Same with full fat milk (but I won't get started on that one!!!)0 -

Just had to turn down cordial at the in laws as that had it in as well!
Looks like I'm sticking to water0 -
Out of interest what does it do to you PT??? It makes me go all shaky and wierd and the day after my mouth is all metalic tasting.
It makes the kids go really strange too - hyper, but not really with it.0 -

I get a dryness in my mouth as the first sign, then within half an hour crippling stomach cramps. I feel hot and sweaty and generally awful for a few hours after. The stomach cramps are by far the worst part.
Luckily the dry taste is usually enough to alert me to its presence so I dont drink much, but one mouthful can leave me in pain for an hour or more0 -

So - what do you do with your Pepsi Max?
Do you drink it neat?
Or do you add something to it - vodka, etc, i.e, do you adulterate the taste?
Do you REALLY enjoy the taste?
Or is it just the overall taste of a fizzy drink that you need?
Do you try to save money?
I too shop at Asda and I've got into the habit (when I'm at home) of drinking coffee in the morning - and then sticking to coke thereafter.
In the evening I often add vodka or cider to my coke - the coke becomes a 'carrier' or mixer.
I buy Asda coke at 17p for a 2 litre bottle - or 0.85p per 100 ml.
It's fine - goes down well - good and fizzy - no nasty aftertaste!!
Pepsi Max's best price is 9.5p per 100 ml.
That's over 1100% more expensive!!
Is the taste that's so important or is it just the name that you pay for?
I think you'll find vodka plus your cheap coke is the same or more expensive as pepsi max when it's on offer. Just Pepsi Max is almost certainly better for your health aswell!0 -
Sainsburys have removed aspartame from ALL their own brand soft drinks fizzy and flat (squash). Can't remember which one they use instead but its not Aspartame! And the only squash I have found with no aspartame is Tesco Hi Juice with at least 50% juice. Even Robinsons uses aspartame in their fullsugar drinks now! I can't help feeling we are better off drinking a bit of natural sugar that we know the long term effects of, than something artificial which may have awful effects later in life.Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!
