I envy you garnetlady with the wee cat.
One of my neighbours had a lovely cheeky wee cat who would occasionally drop in on us, needless to say we called him occasional. He loved a cuddle (and a feed)and would sit with me for ages while I worked in the garden. He got knocked down and died a couple of years ago and I still miss him.

I really like having the cat around. He's quite young and hasn't been getting out for long. He was quite timid to start with but is fine now. Likes to wander about my garage when I'm in there too. He slept on my chair for a couple of hours then went back out to play. Mentioned it to my neighbours so I'll see what happens.

My potatoes still haven't arrived. Ordered the offer from plantoffers. My gardening bag came on Monday but no sign of the potatoes.

The weather is not very nice today. Tonight is supposed to be quite cold too, that'll be me out with the fleece.

Aha! Ok, i'll keep my eyes peeled for anything similar that I don't have to pay for :)

I actually thought they were for supports, but labelling seedlings makes more sense!

    Thanks

Been out in the garden planting the blueberry and raspberry bushes I got from Tesco today for £2 each. They are very small but seem like good quality plants.
My nasturtiums have decided to sprout at last and the pots are starting to sprout well above the soil.
Off out soon to cover up some of the more tender plants as the forecast says there is a chance of frost.
Has anyone seen any sign of growth on hardy fuschia's yet?

midnightraven3 where oh where did you get your Goji berry and fig plants? I am so envious.

I got my blueberries at the st rollox tesco in Springburn in case anyone else wanted to know about that. I Pm'd as I guessed this thread might get a bit big and the answer would get lost!!

Frost tonight my fil has warned me so torn between bringing things in or leaving them in the grow house....

    Hi there.

Can I join in please? I'm Jennie in Caithness in the Highlands. I'm in my second year of grow your own and just love it. I'm lucky to live on a small croft and have space to grow lots of things and last year was an experiment to see what would grow. We're a family of 2 adults and 2 children (aged 3 & 4) trying to live healthy, happy, active outdoor lives.

I'm on the top of the side of a hill next to the sea and we have constant high, cold, salty winds - very, very gusty. We have a polytunnel which we've had to recover and move once after it was blown away in a gale (in mid-summer!) and that's been useful for getting things going this cold, cold spring. There's definitely something living in the tunnel as my plants keep disappearing - I was quite attached to my butternut squash seedling (about 3 inches high) but one morning it was gone. I also had a tunnel in the bed this was in. I just hope it's not a rat?

We have chickens and ducks and grow your own pigs too. We're nowhere near self sufficient but that would be the dream (one day).

I've moved over my sweetcorn plants to a tunnel bed this evening and covered my 'babies' to keep them safe and warm. I had tonnes of sweetcorn last year and it was the most delightful, delicious thing I have ever tasted. I just hope it will be as good this year (esp with Mr Rodent?? sharing the space!).

The last pigs (now in the freezer) cleared an area I am using for my tatties and onions this year - but I'm having some fencing issues and can't get it fully planted until the new pigs can be kept off it!

I also have a raised bed veg patch (we have incredibly stony soil) and we had masses of veg last year from these and hope to again this year - ideally I need to put in another 2 beds to use the space well and get the full mix I would like. Also having fencing issues here as one of our chickens (Esna) keeps getting in and scratching up all of the onion sets which are trying ever so hard to establish. Aaaaghhhhhhhhh....

Nice to meet you all and hear how things are for you all in your part of Scotland! I hope the frost keeps off for you (for us all!) tonight.
