    Best ground clearers we've ever had..when we had hens and a piece of ex woodland that's what we did. Fenced them into a bit and wow hens do it all ! Clear most plants and manure it at same time...huge potatoes!
    It takes so much less effort to dig where hens have already cleared. ..but you should see how well a pig clears ground.Friends did that. We have a fab book "The Pioneering Pig" by Norman Blake published 1955...one day ..when we win the lottery...

    Nice one laurals. Yep I can honestly say that if anyone has a bit of space in their garden get yourselves a couple of chooks. They are great fun! And the bedding and poo are great for the compost bin.Mine will start laying in a few weeks time as they are only young

    Replanted my carrots and parsnips last night.Gently uncovered where I planted hardly a seed had germinated.
    So hopefully we will be flying away this time.

    Glad I covered exposed plants with fleece last night.It's still very cold at 10.30 in sunny South Lanarkshire!

    yep sure it, i turned on the greenhouse heating last night again. I nearly didnt replant because of the forecast at nights just now, but if I hadn't then I could basically forget about any crops.
    Looks like the first courgettes will be picked this week at some point. I prefer them to be quite small.

    skelly when did you plant your courgettes ... i planted mine ages ago ... but i have no sign of anything growing yet by growing i mean courgettes themselves i have leaves etc

    About 6 weeks ago from seed, they have been in the greenhouse though.

    mmm strange then ... mine have been in the polytunnel for the last 3-4 weeks (not entirely sure which) but had them in the house on the window sill before that ...

    Wouldn't worry mine were not doing much then came out one morning and they had suddenly decided "Its time to flower and fruit".
