Theres a 'disabled' woman in my area who makes a big deal about needinghelp to reach things etc, but when it comes to the reduced items she leaps off her scooter and pushes and shoves like nobodys business! Must admit that after I saw her do it I stopped offering her help.0

I never thought I'd say this but I feel so sorry for the Tesco staff. I was in the Cumbernauld extra Tesco a few weeks back - it was Friday night about 7.30pm and I couldn't find something I needed (a baking ingredient) so I spotted a SA by the bakery section and approached her to ask where I could find it. Before she could answer my question this old git appeared from nowhere (well I didn't see where he came from), poked me in the arm and told me to f**k off and ask someone else as she was doing reductions.
I was speechless (doesn't happen often) and without thinking I poked him back and told him to mind his manners or I would send for store security. The poor SA didn't know what to do, she was clearly worried if she dealt with me he was going to go nuts so she shouted for someone else to come from behind the Bakery section and help me. I couldn't believe it as I walked away, there were about 7 or 8 people hovering right behind her and they were staring at me like zombies.
Where are store security when staff, and other customers, are having to put up with this kind of c**p? It's not on, they should be shown the door, preferably with the help of a large boot. Courtesy and patience cost nothing.0 -
when i worked for safeway, one lady was ahead of me in the meat asile, kept picking up packets of meat and kept coming to me and asking if it was going to be reduced!0

I used to work at Morrison's ( Fresh cream cakes) and when I used to do my reductions it was all ways the same people who hung around waiting for you to do the reductions. They where like a pack of wild animals if there where to many people pushing a shoving I used to leave them and mark them down when everybody disappearedSealed Pot Number 018 🎄2009..£950.50 🎄2010..£256 🎄 2011..£526 🎄2012..£548.80 🎄2013...£758.88🎄2014...£510 🎄2015...£604.78 🎄2016...£704.50 🎄2017...£475 🎄2018...£1979.12 🎄2019...£408.88🎄2020...£1200.63...🎄2021…£588 🎄2022 £672… 🎄2023 £3,783.90 🎄2024…£3,882.57🎄20250

At the store I work (not a Tesco) the security guard can usually be found on the Wines and Spirits department filling the shelves!0 -

Could make a greatest hits video. Any suggestions for the soundtrack?
Maybe something along the lines of Two Tribes by Frankie Goes to Hollywood (you'd have 2 people fighting over a reduced ready meal for that bit), or War by Edwin Starr (for when they attack en masse). :rotfl:
We call ours "Reducto" which is the name of the giant plastic vulture we'd have perching on the top of the section if we ran Tescos. It's eyes would glow red, it would start to crow and smoke would rise around it if too many people were crowding round so everyone would be alerted to the fact that the vulture was pleased with the turnout of its disciples
Ours isn't generally too bad, everyone takes turns and is quite civil really. Or maybe I don't get there at peak vulture times.Do good deeds and you could raise the curtain, do good deeds and you could really raise your life....0 -
I tend not to see the scrambles mentioned above, but I do get annoyed at the ones that park their trolley across the reduced section so that noone else can get near it.
I was in our local Asda a couple of weeks ago and there was a shelf of jars of Passata that were reduced to 10p each (I guess they just over ordered as they still had a long date on them) and there was a woman that had parked her trolley across the shelf as a barrier and was merrily clearing the whole lot, seemingly oblivious to me and a couple of others that were interested in them as well.
I decided to make a point, said excuse me loudly, moved her trolley out of the way and picked up a couple for myself. I didn't half get an evil look from her for that! She seemed to think it was her right to take them all and I had dared to stop her. But it also got a chuckle from one of the other guys trying to get near it, so hopefully made my point! No trees were killed to send this message, but a large number of electrons were terribly inconvenienced. - Neil deGrasse Tyson (@neiltyson)0 -
I always have a look at reduced section, we are on a limited budget, and it can be a real God-send, this said I believe in courtesy too. If there is only one I will take one, if there are a few I will take two, if there are loads I will take perhaps 3 or 4 if I can use it. This said the reductions in our local Tesco are not always that good, Coop can be better but it is hit or miss and I tend to shop earlier in the day now I have a toddler in tow!Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.
