Tesco Yellow Sticker/Reductions - Customer behaviour vent!

Options
I am a fan of getting reduced items from Tesco but when I go, I retain as much dignity as I can. I am also polite and nice towards the Sales Assistants. I don't crowd and I don't push.

Unfortunately not all are like this, infact tonight I was at Tesco in Gateshead and I was absolutely disgusted at people's behaviour. Pushing and shoving out of the way, free for all, grabbing, snatching.

They showed no regard for the poor SA who was pushed around despite her asking everyone to wait until she had put stuff on the shelf and left, several times. She then left and everyone surged forward en masse.

I stood on the 2nd/3rd row of people back a few feet away from the people in front, waiting for my turn.

I then stepped forward after it was clear if I waited I would get nothing at all.

I nearly got knocked out by an old lady who elbowed me out the way and tried to grab what i'd already picked up, yelling "I want that!"... It was almost comical if it wasn't so stupid! (I kept a firm grip and just put it in my basket much to her disgusted look!) ...She had a trolley FULL...

One woman in particular goes in regularly (well I know because I go 1-2 times a week for the bargains and she is always there) and shoves people out the way, has a girl working with her and literally grabs everything off the shelf whilst screaming directions/instructions at the young girl.

Tonight I left before everything else had been put out because I was just so ashamed at the other's behaviour.. and felt like an idiot hanging around with them.

Please if any MSErs go to Tesco to get their reduction bargains, please remember your manners! I hope to god none of you people on here stoop so low as the ones in my local store.

Vent over! :A

PS. Next time I go in i'm tempted to film it and put it on youtube :D

that problem could be resolved it they took items to be reduced out the back priced them and then stacked them on trolley and parked it at end of aisle! I have seen this before and people grabbing items off the trolley before the poor Sales Assistant even had a chance to put stickers on! i really dont understand why they make the sales assistant stand in the aisle and reduce items!!!

I agree... the SA in this case reduced all items "out the back" and brought them through in a trolley to put them on the shelf, still all of this behaviour carried on.

I suppose they could leave them in trolley but the goods may get further damaged don't you think?

I find it bizarre that they are so aggressive over it, if they went to lidl they'd get the stuff at an even lower price than the reduced one and with no hassle!
Aha, so thats how you do a signature!

    :rotfl: Please do!

Some people are just nuts! I often go shopping with my mum to Tesco and I've never seen anything like that at our nearest. It sounds insane!

They should do what they do in our local Tesco. Every so often they will make it obvious they are doing the reductions but then never come back out the same door. They then take it to another fridge in the store and put it out there.

I see this a lot to, maybe they should go out back to reduce- but also it is really very sad state of affairs that they should have to!!

It's like watching a crowd of vultures isn't it?? I've often seen someone having a go at the SA too purely because they don't think it has been reduced enough! If you don't like the price then don't buy it, simple! Used to pick up meat sometimes to freeze but now don't bother going anywhere near the aisle it's on. It's as if it's a food drop into a starving nation that hasn't seen food for a week sometimes the way people behave.

It's similar at my local, It's the folk who park their trolly in front of the shelves while they browse that upset me. Especially when there's a crowd 3 deep trying to grab at stuff. On the bright side, I've lost weight from being unable to buy bargain cakes and the like.
I'll see if Tesco are prepared to part with ome of their cctv footage of the reduced section...
Could make a greatest hits video. Any suggestions for the soundtrack?

I used to work at Tesco for a few years and had the misfortune of doing the final reductions on Christmas Eve Things were being reduced by 90%. It was unbelievable how rude and savage people can be. I had a huge crowd around me, grabbing stuff out of my hands before i even put them down.

It is a small store, so i had to check all items in the fruit and veg, chilled, and bakery areas for stuff going out of date whilst the store is closed for christmas.

I had a crowd of people litterally encircling me whilst i was moving around the store, bashing into me and also poking and shoving me asking me to reduce things they picked up, even things like baked beans that have very long shelf lifes. I really wanted to tell them to F*** off and get a life, but unfortunately i needed the money so could not afford to loose the job.

It was honestly the worst experience in my working life.

I know of some people that will go through the none reduced fridge a bit earlier than the reductions are done and pick stuff up that they think will be reduced and then put them in their trolley. They wait for all the reductions to be done and then go find the member of staff and tell them they have missed some stuff and get them to reduce them. If they do not like the price they put it back, problem is sometimes they have had the stuff in their trolley for best part of an hour.
