So would you advise people in the UK to use UK based companies so they can benefit from improved UK consumer protection rather than those based in the channel islands who for instance hide behind channel island law and don't accept returns or don't pay for return postage on faulty goods.
Cos based on my experience with play.com and 7dayshop.com both based in the CI, the level of protection and service the UK customer gets is lower than from UK based companies (eg CD Wow). So while one saves a few quid because of the lack of VAT in the CI, the risk of having a customer service issue needs to be taken into account.
Of course if the company was based in the UK and had a good service and price then why buy outside the UK. - So agree with you on this one Vindiesel.
Oh and I don't think CD wow can force you to accept e-vouchers if it is faulty or returned under the distance selling regulations anyway.
ps Pin are you happy that the CI are NOT in the UK by any chance ?0 -

Because you previously said "The Channel Islands are NOT part of the UK. "
Felt like you were happy about that but perhaps I'm wrong.
It also felt like you were happy with NOT being part of the EU too.
Nothing wrong with a bit of patriotism.0 -

Nope was just stating fact and trying to correct a common misconception about the status of the Channel Islands."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
CD-WOW would never try to force you to take a refund in vouchers.
I ordered a CD for a mate but noticed it had a usually dispatched within 30 days notice attached to it so I needed to cancel it, I'd ordered with a £2 voucher btw. I emailed them to say could you please refund the £3.50 to my card because your delivery times on cd's are too slow and within twenty minutes I had three emails sitting in my inbox, the first from cd-wow confirming they'd done as asked, the second from world pay confirming my card refund and the third was a reissue of my £2 voucher - something I didn't even ask them to-do!.0 -

Err..Is that how you spell sovereignity?!
I read in the paper today that Inner Mongolia is part of China..I didn't know that either..Is it true, or is the old adage 'Don't believe everything you read' coming into play here?
Cheers0 -

Its an autonomus region of China. I.e. Part of China, but the place runs itself. A bit like Scotland or the Catalan region in Spain."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
