Err..so Guernsey and Jersey aren't technically part of the UK? In the same way as Northern Ireland? Or the same way as Scotland and Wales 'aren't' part of the UK? Or is there something going on that I haven't heard about...

Don't think either source their product in the UK
So you either want cheap

or some parts in the UK.
At present CD wow are part UK

Here's the news
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom
The United Kingdom is a political union made up of four constituent countries: England, Scotland, and Wales on the island of Great Britain, and Northern Ireland. The United Kingdom also has several overseas territories, including Gibraltar and the Falkland Islands. The Crown has a relationship with the dependencies of the Isle of Man and the Channel Islands; they are part of the British Islands but not part of the United Kingdom and are a possession of the Crown.
I'm not being facetious any more just factually correct

The Channel Islands are NOT part of the UK. NI is part of the UK.
Channel Islands are also NOT part of the EU. We make our own laws. The Channel Islands swear their alligence to the British Crown. Our foreign and defence conerns are provided by the UK government. Basically the Channel Islands are crown colonies.
Also, Play.com is a Jersey company."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
AFAIC the Channel Isles have a UK postcode so for POSTING PURPOSES are part of the UK?I spelt my username wrongly on purpose, by the way!0

There is an agreement between the PO, Jersey Post (for Jersey) and Guernsey Post (for Guernsey) re postage to the Channel Islands. Yes the Channel Islands are part of the UK post code system, however if you post to the Channel Islands customs forms are normally needed, esp if the parcel value is above a certain level.
Also when posting FROM the Channel Islands to the UK, we pay a higher price than posting FROM the UK to the Channel Islands. Also we have to fill out various customs forms for packages."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
I've always had excellent service from CDWOW. Their postage service is usually way ahead of everybody else's. Never had a problem with the quality either.
Thanks to the OP tho'.The atmosphere is currently filled with hypocrisy so thick that it could be sliced, wrapped, and sold in supermarkets for a decent price and labeled, 'Wholegrain Left-Wing, Middle-Class, Politically-Correct Organic Hypocrisy'.0 -

Okay okay: My there is obviously confusion about the matter, and this may explain it: (from Wikipedia): 'However, as they are possessions of the British Crown they are not sovereign nations in their own right.'
So, depending on which way you wnat to look at it, they are part of the UK, or aren't. As they aren't soverign nations in their own right, then they are part of the great group of nations of the UK/GB.
All I was getting at with the OP, is that by shopping at play.com rather than cdwow.com, they are effectively supporting British jobs (note i now say British, not United Kingdom jobs!!)
Thanks, and Good Night! *It's good to be patriotic, and to all stick together in difficult times*
thanks ;-)0 -
