rang my travel yesterday for my daughter travelling to crete today
was told luggage allowance now 25kgs, she has rang to say
she has been charge £6per kgs this morning only 2kgs over each
but everybody at check in is in the same boat, since the rule on hand
luggage was reversed yesterday, so if anybody is going in the next couple
of days be careful, ring the airline to confirm.
I know she should have re packed last night but was worried incase it changed again.
  • I called thomson on Friday to ask the same question adn was told no allowance was to be made so I booked an extra 5kg for me - Saturday up appears a message on their website to say baggage allowance increased to 25kg - how amused was I.......
It's nice to be nutty but's more important to be nice

Notice to all passengers starting their journey at a UK airport
and to those transferring between flights at a UK airport.

    Updated Monday 14th August

Each passenger is permitted to carry ONE item of cabin baggage through the airport security search point (NB. Subject to the bag dimensions set out below, a bag or bags contained within a bag may be deemed to be one item of cabin baggage). The dimensions of this item must not exceed: a maximum length of 45 cm, width of 35 cm and depth of 16 cm (including wheels, handles, side pockets, etc.). All items carried by passengers will be x-ray screened.

No liquids of any type are permitted other than the following items:

Essential medicines in liquid form sufficient for the flight (e.g. diabetic kit), as long as they are verified.

Baby milk and liquid baby food sufficient and essential for the flight (the contents of each bottle or jar must be tasted by the accompanying passenger).

NOTE: The definition of liquids in the context of this letter should include gels, pastes, lotions, liquid/solid mixtures and the contents of pressurised containers, e.g. toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, soups, syrups, perfume, deodorant, shaving foam, aerosols, etc.

All laptops and large electrical items (e.g. large hairdryer) must be removed from the bag and placed in a tray for x-ray screening so that such items neither obscure nor are obscured by the bag.

All passengers may be hand searched and their footwear and all the items they are carrying may be x-ray screened.

Pushchairs, walking aids and wheelchairs are permitted and will be x-ray screened.

Passengers are encouraged to configure their baggage in line with the above requirements before arriving at the airport, and to allow plenty of time to pass through airport security screening.

  • A friend of mine travelled from Heathrow to Dubai on Etihad Airways on Saturday and he was telling me that although the hold luggage allowance was 20KG, they were letting passengers take as much as they wanted. The family infront of him were 30kg overweight and they didnt ask any questions. I think that they are so busy dealing with backlogs that it would be silly for airlines to waste more time by arguing with passengers.

No idea, but expect to be kicked in the wallet for it.

BAA must be making a fortune out of this.
  • I'm not sure if they have a Boots at Gatwick. I think Heathrow has one. Anyway they have a special offer on their own brand of mineral water. Two 500ml bottles for 99p.

I was just taking cabin baggage with Ryanair so haven't paid for luggage. Does anyone know if I can still take the larger size case which will now have to go in the hold without having to pay extra now or at the airport?
