New Baggage Allowance??????????

Hi All.
Bit tongue in cheek this........................!
The ongoing security at airports has raised a few questions to the office from clients.
"If we cannot take hand baggage, does that mean our checked allowance has risen"??
I have trawled the sites of carriers and cannot find the answer,I might have missed something. As the phones are redhot!!.if someone Knows please post)

It begs the question,Is it worth buying shares in Ryan Air etc??,
Because the way they sting people for excess, they should double their T/O during the present climate(10kg =£55)!!

Maybe being a bit unfair,But having been caught for 1.5 kilo,When I had NO hand Baggage and the girl wouldnt let me "relieve" my case.It wouldnt surprise me.
If you do have the answer please post.
Back to work!!
Happy Hols.

heard on GMTV this morning that all the airlines would be reviewing baggage allowance in view of the 'no handluggage rule' , that charges had been suspended for now but who knows what the long term plans are, I guess they will make it up as they work out how they can make a mint out of it :rotfl:

It doesn't seem to add anything about baggage allowances but a colleague of mine who's travelling on Saturday got ahold of the airline he's travelling with on Saturday and they told him he was not going to be charged extra.

The ground handling companies may hit back by charging extra because they have more bags to handle.

Do they really need more than 20kg for a fortnight at Perto Pullensa?

Ok,Have got it on good authority, that airlines are allowing the extra in hold at no extra cost, untill other plans can be put in place after review.
Agree with Richard its gonna happen, because of the ground companies.

We are flying with Emirates down under and have just checked there web site- Your cabin allowance will be added to our hold allowance and carried at no extra cost.

I think aslong as people are not sillly and try to take the mick you will be ok.

BA say they will be carrying extra water bottles.

Airlines will have to do best they can, it`s not there falut, but sure they will want to keep passengers as happy as they can.

When I have flown long haul before always given a newpaper as I board the plane- they will have to get extra as most people will want them. They also carry paperbacks- but again demand will be high.

Anyone travelling with airlines over the next couple of weeks should check the airline website. For example, Thomson are increasing hold baggage allowance to 25kg given the handbaggage ban. Couldn't see anything on the Flyglobespan website last night re an increase. Ryanair have increased the allowance to 20kg also it seems.
  • easyjet have increased the hold allowance from 20kg to 25kg .......it's a bit of a bummer for the future as the hand-baggage allowance had no weight limit on it
