Question about a roundabout

Ok, here is a further one to ponder...
The roundabout below is 2 lanes where the red dot is on the approach. Where the blue dot is, the exit, is only one lane. A good percentage of cars exit to the right from the left hand lane on this particular roundabout. There are no lane markings. I have seen so many near misses there from cars in the left hand lane turning right its untrue. Question is, are they correct to do so?0 -

No. Two turnings, two lanes.
I was once hit on a roundabout when I was going straight on in the left lane to a single exit (the 2nd of 3), where this moron in a Nissan Sunny decided to go in the right lane and try and nip in. He didn't, he smashed up the side of my car and pushed me into railings when he subsequently pressed the accelerator instead of the brake. When he got out his arm fell off (it was false) and he ran away. He came back with his brother who he had phoned up and the brother insisted to the police he had been the one driving. That's pretty much the standard of driver who performs that type of maneuver!0 -
And more than double the chances of an accident. Two streams of traffic entering the roundabout from the same entrance in two lanes trying to get into the same single lane exit.
I had thought it was dual carriage way on the exit, if it is not the really the local authority should help by deciding which lane would be best.0 -
Unless I know for definite I've got to take the first exit I always approach a dual lane roundabout in the right lane. That way, if you in the wrong lane you can still go round the roundabout and come off at the correct exit.0

Its incredibly frustrating to use that roundabout, its not a busy stretch of road at all, but I nearly had the side taken out of my car once by someone who thought he could turn right from the left hand lane so I'm very wary about it now.
Seems to be common knowledge in our local area that everyone does it at that roundabout!0 -
So people use the wrong lanes at roundabouts ,cause they get in what they think is the "Quickest" lane, and then cut in........whats new? happens all the time0

I did a 2 week advanced driving course last year for work followed by a 1 weeks driving assessment course and have since trained approx 35 of our drivers.I wouldn't mark them down for that(although I do for not checking their mirrors when exiting
).
I was taught by an ex traffic cop and then tested by a serving one and was trained to make progress where possible, so on approaching that roundabout I'd be looking for the whichever lane was most likely to get me onto the roundabout quickest, unless it was specificly for taking a certain exit.0 -

For me that one is a 'close your eyes and go'' situation every time!!
I live nearby and go over the magic roundabout frequently, it took me a while to get used to it but it's not too bad once you get the hang of it.
For the roundabout in the OP, which lane I approached in would depend on where I was going further up the road. If I knew I was going to turn right shortly afterwards, I'd be in the right lane. If there was someone slow ahead of me I'd probably also be in the right lane so I could leave them behind0
