Viole's Venue Nightmare!

My 583 previous posts on the forum count for nothing then? I've been following both ladies' stories and just would like to see the place you all seem to know.
I'm not a wedding venue owner. Nor do I know any wedding venue owners. I'm just a fairly avid reader and contributor here and the suspense is killing me.
If someone 'in the know' wants to take a few minutes to read my previous posts they'd see that I'm genuine."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
We don't all know it, no one has ever said the name as far as I know, they've mentioned the area, and some people have figured out the venue, then over the course of time hints have been dropped and quoted from Trip Advisor, which other people have googled before they were deleted. Too smart for me, it took me seven weeks of searching Trip Advisor! :rotfl:It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Well if any kind soul wants to take pity on me, I promise it'll go no further."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

You can do the claim for court all online:

I will carry on following this with interest. Good luck with getting all your money back!"If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

Good idea Frannyann, I would definitely go online for the court claim if you can viole. It is quite straightforward (the only reason I couldnt was because you have to keep your word count to minimum and I had too much to say!!!). It is slightly cheaper online than in the courts too. I am not sure who paid the actual deposit but if it was you, the claim needs to be in your name. If it gets to court (and he actually turns up) then your dd and her OH can go to court with you and request (ask the judge through the usher) to go into the court room so you wont be alone. When we did this, the judge was more than agreable since we were both involved with the wedding and it would be the same in your case.
Horace - did you do any undercover work?0 -

Pimento, you have not posted on the Weddings board before and for all we know you could be a relative of the owner of this venue. There are very few people who actually know the name of the venue, and that is because there is legal action currently being taken.
I'm sorry if you are offended by the zipped-lips, but it is so that any current litigation is not prejudiced and also to ensure that MSE is not involved by association.0 -
Viole - sorry if I am being dense (its late and I really need to be in bed as I have a really early start in the morning) is it this September that your DD was thinking about? If so, I would be willing to make an enquiry to see which Saturdays if any are free and ask which dates are available:D
Yes it is this September but I suspect that after our weekend encounter he will not dare to continue to say the date is taken. We insisted that our names were taken off the computer and that was done while we were there. I suppose they could have been put back after we left but he's probably achieved his goal because at the time most people would have been booking for September, he was saying the date was not available. It would be an interesting exercise though!0 -
Thanks for all the info Beks - I think I live very near you, if I read the right article in the local newspaper recently. I came across the thread when I was searching on Google using words like venue, cancellation, rights, refunds etc, and suddenly up came your thread. I was strangely drawn to it because after reading your first few posts I had a feeling that we were dealing with the same place and then when you mentioned the area I knew we were.0
