Probably just the papers scare mongering then ,Just had a quick look round and notihng coming up
Think i am right in saying that Jet2 own all their planes rather than leasing them like some do so one would assume they are as safe as any other low cost airline ,This Volcano disruption will cost all the airlines a small fortune so would say the rumours will be about for a while on all airlines

I have no idea about Jet2's finances, however, they have categorically stated that they will not be paying their customer's expenses post volcano.

That is both illegal and dreadfull customer service. They also hiked their prices mercilessly for those trying to get home (including me!).

I have several other flights booked with them later this year so would be interested to hear informed views on their finances.

After this years flights, I will definately be looking elsewhere for flights.

why do people think airlines should pay hotels etc for people stranded by volcano
the rules EU261/2004 were never there for this sort of thing but more for delayed flights etc

That came over as rather sarcastic - I'm sure you didn't mean it to :A

Jet2 appear to be the only airline taking the stance they are. The rule may not have been in place for this type of event but others appear to be complying although clearly they don't like it.

As a matter of interest, I am much more angry at their treatment of customers trying to get home and re-booking flights after the original flight was cancelled.

In my case, our original flights cost £650 (return) for 3 of us. The re-booked flights were priced at over £900 (single). This was also cancelled and, at that time they had no flights until the 27th April.

Eventually booked on Thomas Cook for £350 for the 23rd.
