  • I've been using Morrison's Savers cheap baby bath for years for a multitude of uses. I have saved hundreds and hundreds of pounds over the years as a result. The price has gone up now to 36p for 500ml from 11p. The baby shampoo works as well but not as good as the baby bath as the bath one is thicker. I have used the Sainsbury's version in the past as well but much prefer the Morrison's Savers baby bath.

Here are some of my uses for it. I can't remember them all as my brain isn't working that well today!

    1. Cleaning chrome. It comes up really sparkling. (Add a few drops of disinfectant if you prefer to clean rest of bathroom). Just a few neat drops onto a damp cloth.

    2. Handwashing delicate clothes and woollens. Just add a few neat drops into the water beforehand.

    3. Washing delicate clothes and woollens in the washing machine. Just pour some neat into the machine drawer.

4.Cleaning floors and also laminate and wooden flooring. It's very gentle so no need to worry about stripping the wood. Just pour some neat into the water beforehand.

    5. Pour neat into a container for the children to blow bubbles with. It's way cheaper than the bubble solution you buy (assuming you already have a bubble wand) and because it gets used for so many other things as well, you should always have some in the cupboard. Great for those days when the children are bored and are looking for something to do.

    6. Handwash. I just keep topping up various empty handwash dispensers with neat baby bath. It gets finger nails as well as hands really clean and of course smelling nice as well. Again you can add some anti bacterial solution (like tea tree oil or some other stuff if you want it to be anti bacterial).

    7. I also add a few neat drops to a small bit of water and then add it to a container of baby wipes to make them more moist.

Hi all :hello: Loooong time not been here. :o

I have found an interesting little page, mostly to save time when preparing food but there's also scope for saving money by cutting out waste: http://www.fooods.net/food-tips-life-hack/

Love the tip for using the muffin tin for sauces at a party or dips :)

i have tried all the stain removers over time ,but still find the best is "Swarfega" 80p-90p at cheap shops ,rub a little on the mark leave it for a bit before you turn on washer, I found a blouse i loved lurking at the back of the wardrobe, its been there a few years ,i no longer wore it because it had 2 grease marks on,So charity shop bag, then i thought give the swarfega a go and they have vanished !!!
Do I need it or just want it.
  • :T I read through this whole thread yesterday!

    Some very good tips.:)

I use old vitamin bottles as decanters for almond or olive oil to put in my bathroom cabinet to use on my face as a moisturiser.

I have cut the little clips off the ends of those white plastic hangers you get from clothes shops and I use them to seal up cereal, bags of crisps etc... to keep them fresh.

Old towels end up as dusters, rags, or I use them to line the dogs/cats beds. They seem to like the feel of them.

I used a large piece of cardboard to make a pin board. I just used a staple gun and covered the cardboard with a piece of spare fabric and some ribbon. You can use old unwanted stud earrings to pin leaflets, cards onto the board.

Our fridge freezer broke and we had to get a new one so I took out the vegetable trays at the bottom of the old fridge and I use them at my computer desk to keep paperwork and spare printer paper in.

Cardboard boxes from deliveries I use as storage for various things in the back of my wardrobes or I cut holes in the sides and reseal the boxes and they are used as a free toy for my cats to play in.:rotfl:

When we are staying away overnight working and are in a B&B we try to save costs by taking our own flasks of drink for during the day. We have access to a kettle but not to fresh milk so on the second day we make up hot choc [the sort you add water to] as neither of us are particularly fond of black coffee.

If we're going away somewhere we (like Aril) take some snacks with us. We'd saved up to stay at the hotel where we had our wedding night. On this particular occassion OH managed to negotiate a delux room. In the room was a lovely bell jar and large soft cookies. Thankfully I'd read the welcome blurb first and they were £3 each!!!! I'd brought some with us I'd got as a yellow sticky for 50p!

This time of year there's alway cheap oranges/satsumas/clementines on the go. I got some for 20p, and after taking the best out (to eat) the rest were sliced up (thinly) and put on a baking tray, sprinkled with cinammon or mixed spice and allowed to dry out in a warm oven. Use these to fill cheap clear vases (poundland) or even empty coffee jars (tie a bit of ribbon round the top to cover the screw part of the jar). These smell lovely and wrapped in a little bit of cellophane with a bow would make a lovely and very inexpensive gift.
