In the rare times you buy new clothing, ask to keep the hangers, in fact if you have the nerve smile sweetly and ask if they have any extra! I learnt this from a Danish friend, apparently its very done in Denmark - she fell about laughing when I told her I needed to buy more hangers, since I've done this I am never short and they can be very useful for getting washing dry in winter.

Stocking fillers for Christmas needn't cost a fortune. I send off for freebies I know I will use or that others will appreciate. Although if you happen to be passing some of the larger perfume/cosmetic counters early in the morning then do as I did this morning. Ask! I said I wanted to get my SIL one of the new perfumes to market for Christmas. I ended up with 8(!) sample vials of perfume and she threw in a few mens ones as OH was looking bored. I've found the perfume I want to get her but the samples will be well used to go in with other people's presents. The reason for going in early is the staff are looking for something to do as the shop is quiet and you are more likely to get samples rather than get told they don't have any.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. For those that have sensitive skin, and some excema sufferers, it is important to know that aqueous cream is made from oil by-products (paraffin), and contains sodium laurel sulphates too.

Aqueous and E45 sting me too. I can only use vaseline on a cracked nose or lipsyl, when I have a cold.0

What do you do with old pillows? You know the old lumpy ones (not feather, the anti-allergy stuffing ones)?
Here's a few ideas (the 1st, 3rd and last one I've done but not the second personally yet):
1) Remove the casing of the pillow and cut into a square this can now be used to revive old cushions.
2) Do you have scraps of material? Cut them into squares/hexagons and get 2 and overlock the edges together leaving one side open, repeat until you have enough for your project. Get your old pillow and remove the outer casing, cut a small piece to fit inside your 2 pieces, sew up the open edge. Once you've done this they can all be stitched together and if you want you can use ribbon or strips of fabric as a binding on the edge of the blanket.
My Mum made a small quilt for me as a child when money was tight, I was only reminded of it when I saw a similar technique on Wartime Farm (except she stuffed hers with feathers).
3) I have done this one and it requires 1 old pillow and either 2 old pillow cases or scrap fabric. This is to make a pet bed. Take the casing off the old pillow and using a sharp serated knife cut into the pillow length ways. Get your old pillow cases and split them up one side each and sew together. Put the old pillow pieces inside and stitch up. Voila a new pet bed.
........I did make the mistake when doing this the first time of cutting up the pillow to make the pet bed nice and fluffy except my puppy decided to shred the casing and instead of only a few pieces of pillow I had it everywhere!
4) A draught excluder - take 1 old pillow, remove the casing and cut it lengthways into 2 long sausage shapes. Use this to stuff a leg off an old pair of trousers or an old pillowcase split lengthways.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera.
