Broomstick said:I also use my Amazon basket but rarely for buying! I love books and, if I find something I want to read, I look it up on Amazon put it in my basket and then move it to 'save for later'. It means that I always know where to find my reading list and I use it when searching our library's paper and audio books to see if it's available for free.
And then a miracle! Someone at work gave me a reward to spend on Amazon and so I was able to get both a replacement for my 35 yo tape and the "part 2" recording which I had never yet heard. Think I played them both 4 times the first day I had them. They now live in my car and get me to and from everywhere.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. i use m00npig to save all my addresses and birthdays but then go and buy a card, handy to have in one place, I use m0neysavingsupermarket to check my usage and prices for energy (easier to use than SP website )It also lets you check others addresses so you can see how your usage compares to others. I use the Anglian water company website to check my daily usage If i take a bath its the same as 3 washing machine runs in water. I stay motivated by using Old Style MS Forums21k savings no debt6

I combine these so when I see that a book I'm browsing for on amazon is available in the library I add it to my "library" wishlist, (that I can just check on my phone when I am actually in the library as I forget what I was interested in!)13 -

Hi all!I've managed to read the entire thread. So many great tips. A lot of them are things my mother used to do, so I remember them from when I was little.I can't remember who it was who recommended www.fadedpage.com but it's a great site. Like you, I read a lot of Golden Age detective fiction ans have already started in on the Miss Silver series, saving £££ as they're not free on Amazon. I'm also going to see if I can use the library extension mentioned by Elisheba above.NATIONAL TRUST MEMBERSHIP SAVINGThis was mentioned a while back, but wanted to bump it because it's approaching the holiday season, when people might be joining to cut the cost of visiting places.Try joining the National Trust for Scotland. It's cheaper than the NT (£63 v £72) and gets you in to English (Welsh, N Irish, Manx. NZ, Australian, Channel Island etc) places in the same way.A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

QUICK QUESTIONWaaaaay back, someone posted a suggestion of using milk bottles for flour etc, as they were the right size to hold a bag.Silly question - do you decant a bag of flour/sugar into the bottle, or do you cut the bottle so that you can put a bag of stuff straight into it?I'm sure it should be obvious...A budget is like a speed sign - a LIMIT not a TARGET!!

Decant. Use a funnel. Obviously making sure the bottle is clean and dry.I keep rice, lentils etc in some of mine.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi9

Milk bottles are good storage containers for freezing liquids too. A one pint milk bottle contain two generous portions of home made soup. Use a Stick blender to zap it first so it can be poured more easily in and out of the bottle.7
