I keep my hair longish and cut it myself using that I call the unicorn method. A central pony tail at the front of my head. And if you want layers just gather up and put small amounts of hair in the pony tail. I am lazy and don't like the experience of going to the hair dressers.Other thing I do like I do this morning. I have combi boiler so have to run the water a short while to get hot water. When I have a shower run the water in a bucket and use that for flushing the loo. And then quickly dressed and went down stairs and did the washing up. Water is still hot in the pipes so hardly had to run any to get the washing up bowl as full as required. less waiting and catching of water. Which is used to water plants of flush the down stairs loo.YoursCalley xHope for everything and expect nothing!!!

I use a bucket in the shower too but I leave mine in during a shower. I also get several buckets when I take a bath. I’ve been toying with the idea of running some tubing out of the bath and down into the drive to collect water, a bit like a symphon tube when racking off wine. My bath is under the window. All this water is good enough for flushing toilets or watering plants. I also keep a bucket in the kitchen. I empty the kettle into it each morning and any water I run off til it runs hot. Also the water I rinse out my wine making fermenters with. I save the water from boiling eggs for my houseplants. I have large trugs positioned around the garden to collect rainwater. I’m on metered water so every little helps. I’m paying £14 a month at present but the year is up soon. What usually happens is that they say I’m in debit and put the rate up, then the following year the opposite happens. The lowest I had it was £6 a month. I think that was the second year I was here because they charged me too much in the first year. I would estimate I probably use about £16 to £18 a month.8

missychrissy, I only shower with the bucket when I am low of water for the plants in pots outside. As I find if there is any soap/shampoo etc residue it makes the water in my words "go off" and start to smell if left for longer than a day. I too am on meter. And have a partner who loves long showers!!!!!Also another thing I do is in the summer when doing my washing. I put the washing machine on the lowest spin it saves wear on both clothes and the machine. And does not matter when hot as it gets dry fairly quickly anyway.YoursCalley xHope for everything and expect nothing!!!

I usually have my hair cut And treated with a straightening potion every two months but what I have discovered during lock down is that I can go a longer between cuts and treatment.I am now only going to book my appointment every 3 months. This will save me another £150 a year.I use a mobile hairdresser - she is around 50% cheaper than a salon hairdresser.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

We've just been for our daily walk along the lanes and through the woods and I've picked a lovely big bunch of grasses with different shaped and different coloured seed heads, even some that are purple coloured and I've popped them into a vase where they ought to dry completely and give us a nice little bit of colour through the winter. Yesterday we harvested a big bunch of dry wild poppy seedheads and they are in a yellow metal bucket that previously grew us some antirrhinums in the kitchen and they look lovely too, free pretty things instead of expensive flowers flown in from other continents, can't be bad can it?10

A couple of days ago a friend gave me two beetroot she had grown, complete with leaves. Fabulous! I chopped up the leaves with a couple of leaves from a cabbage and from a cauliflower and we had that for the veg for our dinner. It tastes just like spinach which I love. I will have the beetroot for my my lunch today as my husband does not like it. His loss and my gain : ) I will cook it in the microwave just like potato. My point is to think about the extra bits like the cauli leaves and see if it can go into a meal somewhere or maybe soup. I try very hard not to throw things.6
