    Evening all,

Sat night, and am in my pjs and dressing gown on the sofa! Is that sad? OR just a sign of old age :rotfl:and I'm not old!!

Determined new MS - big hugs honey, what a situation to suddenly have sprung on you, I hope that whatever she decides to do works out for the best xxx

Funny old day in Mogchops land. Most of my family have been to my cousins wedding today, but we werent invited, because the bride (my cousin) only has one cousin (me) but the groom has 7 cousins, so they made a decision to have no cousins at all. So my mum & stepdad, auntie & uncle, other uncle and other cousin (brides sister) are all there - and we're not :(

Am consoling myself by thinking of the money we are saving - would have been an overnight hotel plus all related expenses, so hey ho.

So instead ended up spending 3 hours helping my DSS (darlingstepson) sort out his mobile bill and mobile broadband bill.:eek::eek: That was scary!!! :rotfl:However thankfully is now all sorted, have had to lend him some money towards the bill, but will get it back. I hope.

    Today have so far:
    - checked online banking
    - hokey cokey in the lovely sunshine
    - watered my lovely seeds, tomatoes and cucumbers sprouting!! :D
    - tidied through
    - tea from meal plan
    - elder DD gone for sleepover
    - done all comps ending 25/04

Will be watching Doctor Who shortly when younger DD gone to bed, she doesnt like the weeping angels :rotfl:

Have a great weekend everyone xx

  • A happy, sunny weekend for me. I had a very productive day in the house, garden and allotment yesterday and that always lifts my spirits. I'm hoping I can match it today.

    Yesterday went like this:
    • dishwasher and washing machine run overnight
    • convinced DH to put washing line back up so HC out on line
    • let chickens out into garden so I could thoroughly scrub the coop and run
    • DH finished off making new salad beds helped by the chickens!
    • made bread
    • all meals from stores & mealplan (except crisps bought by DS as an extra treat with our lunch)
    • weeded fuit cage in allotment and repotted a dozen strawberry runners into pots to either boot fair or give as presents
    • dismantled another two pallets to make allotment compost bin
    • swept, mopped and hoovered right through house
    • 13th NSD from a target of 12 this month :T
Today's list is similar but less housework - it is Sunday after all ;)
    • already done two HC ready to hang outside
    • plant 4x seeds hoping I haven't left them too late
    • make more bread as yesterday's loaf disappeared very quickly!
    • dinner and tea from stores
    • start working on fancy dress costume for DS
    • cut out another two corsets
    • probably a couple of hours at allotment
    • dismantle remaining pallets
    • should also be another NSD but you never know in this house....
This is only our second year at the allotment, but it has saved us buying a lot of food. We are still using onions and garlic from last year, and still digging leeks. We only used half the plot last year and have opened a bit more this year. At £10 a year, it is one of the best DFW things we've done. :D

Morning girls! Thanks Triangle, I'm trying but my dd is a very difficult and demanding person and unfortunately (and hopefully its just the process of adolesence for her and not a lifelong difficult personality) she thrives on whipping everyone up into a frenzy so there have already been several arguments in the 3 days she's been home. I'm trying to be supportive, understanding that her hormones will be amplifying the above, be there for my ds & oh and not drown myself. I'm strong and will weather this, the shock is starting to go now and my practical side is coming out :D. Hopefully it won't derail my DFW stuff although it probaby will push the DFD back a bit, I'm already finding it hard that the tv has been on every morning when I've got up, and my tidy home that I've taken so much pride in is a mess every morning/evening after work  but when she's got so much to cope with don't want to go on about small stuff

    Anyway today
    • went through my online spending diary for last week . a real shocker when its all there in black and white! got paid on Tuesday and have already spent 1/3 of my disposible income for this month
    • [STRIKE]go to bootfair see if there are any clothes for dd (unsavory bf she was with beat her up and burnt all her clothes/belongings)[/STRIKE] 4 t-shirts/tops, track suit bottoms, and some jeans for £4.50:D
    • make maderia cake/hobnobs for treats for start of week for oh, ds & dd
    • [STRIKE]go collect what items dd has left from places she was staying[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]make bread[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]go through fridge/freezer/store cupboards & work out what shopping I need for the week[/STRIKE] opps didn't do this but knew what we had so just got some bits £32 not bad when there's an extra mouth to feed now
    • vacuum house and drop vacuum back to oh's parent's home (they fly back tues ;))
    • planting in the garden, going to buy some bedding flowers at the boot fair :j
    • also received residents card yesterday - free museums here we come!:D
    • [STRIKE]have done 1 survey[/STRIKE] (50p) checked hipoints £23 :j
    • [STRIKE]checked talk talk bill[/STRIKE] £11 for 2 months :j
that's enough! Hope you all have a great sunday x

SW how much time do you spen on your allotment? I really want to get one but am unsure re the time needed? Both oh & myself work full time (37hrs) I spent an extra 6/7 1/2hrs pw driving to work. I find it difficult enough time wise just doing all the day to day stuff. Seems like a big committment?

    Morning all!
Sorry to hear you're having a hard time Determined - hopefully it will settle down into a manageable routine soon.

We went out for a lovely meal last night and thoroughly enjoyed it- OH, bless him, paid too. For those of you that are wondering, he works full time and I gave up my job to retrain as a teacher last September. I do get a bursary, a small grant and a student loan but they only last for 9 months of the year and will end completely in June. So I'm trying to stretch the payments to last a few extra months - so even though we pay half the mortgage and bills, food etc each I have much less disposable income than I used to have (neither of us wants a joint account).

It was my decision to give up work (totally supported by OH) and I don't want my decision to impact too much financially on him (although I'm sure he wouldn't mind, he's lovely). So, every now and again he does something nice like take me to the cinema, out for a meal or drinks just to give me a treat.

    Anyway, today I will...
    • Walk the dog for free exercise (one done in the rain)
    • Finish off a few lessons
    • Do a job app
    • Continue to research interview college and lesson to teach
    • Clean bathrooms
    • Have a LSD
    • Act as a taxi service for OH who's going out on an end of season football team booze up
    • Make us a proper fry up for brunch to make sure he's had a big feed before boozing!
    • Check banks
    • All food from stores
    • One load of washing, dry naturally
    • Put dry washing away
    • Think about ebaying a Mont Blanc pen that I was given as a gift and never used
That's it for today - hope everyone has a good one
Off to fiddle with some work whilst watching the London Marathon (I will do it one year!)

SW how much time do you spend on your allotment?

I spend quite a bit of time down there, but then we've put up a shed with a verandah area, got picnic chairs and full tea/coffee making equipment there too :D

Seriously though, I put in loads of hours when we first got the plot as the land had been reclaimed from scrubland and not used for growing for over 20 years. We just planted 1/2 of the plot and covered the rest with tarpaulin to supress weeds. An existing allotment wouldn't have those problems.

When we got the allotment I was working 5 full days and weekend mornings too but fitted in the allotment in the evenings and weekend afternoons.

The amount of time depends on the size of the plot and what you grow I suppose. Our plot is 7.5m x 19m but 1/4 is covered by the fruit cage and shed. At the moment I spend a couple of hours every day, but that's my choice and it doesn't *need* that amount of time - alot of that is sitting enjoying the sun and the peace down there. Some of the plot holders do an hour or so at the weekends and still get fantastic results.

Free exercise, free suntan and cheap organic food - all very DFW in my eyes. :T
