DFW - Sat/Sun 24/25th April - What small DFW things have you done today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :D:D

Morning all!
Just starting us off - will be back in a minute to do the list!

Woo hoo! Look at me starting the thread (hope I've done it right!)

Up early as I can't sleep anymore - the early starts just seem to program you to wake up even when you don't have to!
Anyway, a busy-ish day for me today - lots to do and a lovely day to do it.

My little list....
  • Walk the dog for free exercise (done one already) - just about to set off for the park before hoovering
  • Research lesson I have to teach in a job interview next week:j
  • Go to Mr T's for the weekly shop armed with a list - done, spent about £11 more than I wanted to but we were running low on quite a bit
  • Withdraw cash from bank for the week - done
  • Hoover and dust the house - will do after park visit as dog tends to bring half of it back with him
  • Change bed - done, in the machine now
  • Do at least 2 loads of washing and dry naturally - one in now, second one in
  • Finish one more job application and start the next
  • Prepare a couple of lessons for next week - last teaching practice week - hurrah!!!! Managed to get quite a lot done in school hours this week so not as much as normal to do this weekend
  • Maybe do a few hundred words towards the second half of my final assignment (due on May 10th)
  • Go out this evening with OH for a nice meal in a Turkish restaurant - looked at the menu on the web and it looks very nice - quite excited, will wear a frock and everything!
That's it for now - may think of more stuff later.

Hello to you all that follow! Have a fab day!

Edit - Just been on a quick drive to job interview place - it looks really nice from the outside and is in a lovely area so fingers crossed (again!)

    Hi everyone

I haven't got anything planned this weekend - nowhere to go and nothing I 'have' to do. :D Nice feeling, albeit a bit of a weird one! :D

So, I'm going to take it easy with these small things:
    • Read a book
    • Do a meal plan of sorts for next week
    • [STRIKE]Put something in the slow cooker[/STRIKE]
    • Look into how much a new slow cooker would be as SC#2 is broken
    • Oooooh hokey cokey cokey *sings song while dancing in the living room*
    • [STRIKE]Call mum using free minutes[/STRIKE]
    • [STRIKE]Look at my spending diary and pick out all those things that I didn't really need/where I could cut back [/STRIKE] Definitely about £50 I could've saved :naughty:
    • [STRIKE]Check banking/PB/quidco etc...[/STRIKE]
    Catch up later folks!

    xx

PS - techie question - can you guys see everyone's avatars? I can only see them if I search via member's list but it doesn't appear next to posts... confused...

Hi everyone, hope you are all ok!!!

Well the whole pension has confused me even more, got wage slip and they have deducted £176 from me  no wonder why i am on such a tight budget this month. Then over the other side of the slip it says Misc Grossed up and Gross make up - what does this mean??? who knows?? we should all go back to putting the money under the mattress like back in the day.

Well my list is quiet small at the moment as I want to focus on one thing - continuing the sorting out! this month is going to be a tight month so its going to be a productive month!!!!

apart from the sorting out I am going to:

    - hokey cokey and out on the line
    - turn the heating off
    - check online banking

well i will be back later!!! have a good day!!!

Arghhhhhhhhhh I am so not happy!!! I have just checked my credit score and it has gone down not up since name change on there. I am really not happy about that.... at all!!! I cant believe it.

Ouch! That's steep, Ineedtomake£. You're probably best off asking your HR department to explain the payslip - they'll probably get calls like that all the time. Don't fret till Monday! Enjoy the weekend and all your sorting out xx

    A small list for me:

*I'm going to do uni work this weekend (this working full time and studying sucks but I am so close to the end...)
*we got loaned a hedge trimmer (saving the price of a new one) so if that works and OH is in we might trim the hedges, saving on the price of the man who offered to do it last week. OH has told me I'm not to use it on my own as I've never used one before, so I have no excuse not to study :D
*collect new library books - one will help with my uni work and I didn't think it would come in time so woo-hoo :j
Debt at highest: £8k. Debt Free 31/12/2009. Original MFD May 2036, MF Dec 2018.
