I think all airlines are at the mercy of weather. iirc Vegas is served by Gatwick - right? If so you'll be fine. Besides around 80% long haul flew last time, and the voluntary crew are now trained on 747s too (they weren't last time) meaning potentially 100% of long haul may fly.

    Interested what Laheys been editing!

I'm due to fly to Rome on 31st May, come back on 6th June... looks like I'm stuffed both ways... the first holiday I've had in years and it's about to go down the pan!

Does anyone know what happens, delays or cancellation? I hope I can get my money back if it's cancelled, will not be impressed!

BA flies Heathrow to Vegas. Virgin is the Gatwick to Vegas.

Typical, this is my first time flying on BA on the Vegas route and the strike happens. I blame myself for not sticking with Virgin :o

Trying to find out if the Vegas flights flew during the last strike if anybody knows...(or else I need to be patient enough to wait for BA to announce what they're doing!)

    Virgin Gatwick! Gotcha!
I think it's hard to base this strike on the stats from last time given that 747s should be flying, and more crew are trained. I'm betting on a 100% long haul schedule! Best of luck!

It will be interesting to see what happens this time. The strikes are much longer this time. When it was over a few days and weekends before it was probably easy to cover with voluntary crews, but for almost 20 days continuously, do these volunteers not have other jobs to be doing within BA?

I've got flights later in the year with BA and initially thought this would all have blown over, but maybe not.

Here is the latest from the BA WEBSITE:

    Last updated 20:30 - 10 May 2010

We are disappointed that Unite, the trade union for British Airways (BA) cabin crew, has announced that it intends to take further strike action on:

    • 18 to 22 May
    • 24 to 28 May
    • 30 May to 3 June
    • 5 to 9 June
We are currently considering our response so we can minimise any disruption during this strike period, and aim to provide more details of our plans on Tuesday afternoon (UK time) 11 May. All our flights are operating as normal at the moment.

Which flights will be affected during the strike?

Due to the excellent levels of support we have received from cabin crew based at London Gatwick, all flights to and from Gatwick will continue to operate as normal.

All flights to and from London City will also be unaffected.

At Heathrow we plan to operate a substantial part of our longhaul schedule and there will be a number of flights to every destination across our shorthaul network.

We are speaking to a number of carriers about leasing in extra aircraft to support our shorthaul schedule and also obtaining thousands of seats from other airlines to help our customers rebook if their original flight is cancelled.

In the event that cancellations are made due to strike action
    You will be able to:
    • Rebook onto another British Airways flight to the same destination within 355 days of the original date of travel
    OR
    • Rebook onto another British Airways flight to/from the nearest alternative airport (for example, if booked to/from Boston you could rebook to/from Philadelphia or New York)
    OR
    • Rebook onto an agreed alternative airline, subject to availability.
    OR
    • Cancel your booking and get a refund.
All rebooking options will be subject to availability.

Well, you made the offer, so is that a no then?

    A harmless eccentric? Who knows?

    I've been busted.

I'm just a kid who googles stuff and has never been further than a weekend in the Dales.
    Damn you two are good.

What else can I say - It was good while it lasted.
