Could be a wobbly tea time - my friends are coming round with their children shortly and normally us ladies have a couple wines whilst the boys are in charge. But I'm not going to and I don't think my friend is going to like it. I can't really be ars*d to explain myself to her (she is a gem and she would understand) but I don't want to talk about it and then them talk me into a wine. Does that make sense?
Anyway - I'm motivated to do this, I know why I want to stop drinking and its my choice. Right then, I'll put the kettle on and we'll see how it goes .......
Good Luck with it penelopedee :T
When someone is pressuring you to drink, it does make you wonder where they're coming from.
I've had to stop getting in touch with a friend of mine, P.
P is a self - confessed alcoholic (I'm far from saying your friends are!) ..
The thing is, he only ever calls / texts when he wants to go to the pub, or if he's already in there drinking!
It's all down to people wanting you /me to drink, a lot of the time, so that they themselves feel better / less guilty themselves, about their own boozing.. Madness!
Hope it's all ok and relaxed, and remember, it's your choice!

Re Debts -
Just got off the phone with Vodafone.
Since getting my SOA down on the MSE 'Debt Free Wannabe' board, I decided to bite the bullet, and call them.
Asked them if I they'd lower my iPhone tariff from gulp.. £45 a month - I can't afford this!
They wouldn't budge.
I got through to a girl, who was offshore, and she's just recounting company policy - fair enough. I did politely ask, if we could escalate this to her Manager.
She told me I'd get a call back within 48 hours, but I don't expect them to budge an inch!
Any ideas?
Have any of you managed to get your mobile company, to lower your monthly tariff?
I was told, they wouldn't consider lowering it, until the end of my contract - January 2011!0 -
:T:T:T Thanks wbf for April scoring!
sim, well done on contacting Vodafone. I know you've had no joy yet but well done for doing something you've been putting off.:T obviously courage to be found in curry!0 -
Many on here quote HALT (hungry, angry, lonely, tired) as triggers for drinking but I think bored/flat can be just as bad.
I quite agree - though sometimes I know my "bored" is self inflicted by not doing things I should be doing, like exercising or tidying up etc.
I think lonely is my biggest trigger but often disguised as bored or flat
Have ended up leaping into some red wine tonight (not literally!) but plan to be AF for next few days.

Spot on honeybear
I used to drink, when I felt lonely too. Quite a common reaction I reckon :cool:0 -

Evening All.
Still Af here. Can I go on the May list as TF please with 2 days under my belt.
I know what you mean about the 'flat' days. When I was drinking I'd be having a 'flat' day and just drown it all out drinking a bottle or two of wine on my own. This acheived-more money wasted, a pass out nights sleep, an extra 500/600 calories consumed, those embarrassing empties, a furry mouth in the morning, the sweats, etc etc.
Now if I have a flat day I just try and accept it for what it is. I could drink my way through it but I'd be kidding myself that the alcohol made it any less flat, it just tricks you into thinking you are doing something.....which of course you are, but nothing positive.
I had a particularly tough day at work on friday and someone said you had better have a drink and relax tonight. I am now at the place where I can say 'I don't drink'Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature.
