    Evening.

Good luck with the taxi job, Sim and try not to dwell too much on your past. It's done and dusted, the important thing is to reduce its influence on your future. Nobody but you knows what led you to be that way back then, I'm sure that back then the thought of going for a month and four days without a drink would sound ridiculous but you've done it now and that can only be a good thing surely.

I take Facebook 'success stories' for wat they are, good for you if you've been to Barbados and you drive a nice car, I'm happy for you. Maybe one day I'll do the same but right now I take greater satisfaction in knowing that whilst I have denied myself those opportunities in the past through getting myself into debt/poor health for whatever reason, at least now I'm doing something about it.

To be financially solvent again and free of my vices is worth more to me than any holiday and you know what? I will proudly put it as my facebook status when I reach that milestone. The friends I have on facebook will be happy for me and supportive of me if they are true friends.

AF for me today, just chilling out to a few Fela Kuti albums, loving that Afro-beat music even though it is reminding me that there's no more world cup football to watch :(

by the way, if anyone needs discouragement from drinking then just have a listen to Mel Gibson's recorded rants to his ex girlfriend, yikes!

what's more is I bet he's got loads of wonderful pictures on his facebook page, but boy, oh boy do they mask the truth!
    jusqu'ici tout va bien

I'm sure this could be arranged, just ask BHB:D

Had a little wobble this evening. I was in the city centre around 5ish and there were so many people outside bars with large glasses of wine I really fancied one. I'm sure for me drinking is just a lifestyle choice. I equate sitting back with a large glass in hand as fun and relaxation. I don't physically crave alcohol. My problem is the disappointment of not joining in.

But I didn't, so that's day 2 of the challenge sorted DB

    and 4AF please sparkles.

Well done to everyone else who's kept away from it tonight especially sim for doing so well for so long.

    sleep well everyone.

Maman, thanks, and congrats for not giving in to your craving!

Paolo, you're spot on, thanks. Even a month or two back, I didn't think I could go a month without a drink!

It does feel good, having a clear head :)

    Night night all.

You're a different species to me then maman!

I thought my drinking was lifestyle based, and that I just enjoyed pub/bar culture.
However, when I went out to the pub and didn't drink, then I found it very difficult to enjoy myself. It was a totally different experience without alcohol.
I never wanted a coke or lime and soda while outside a bar on a warm evening. I wanted beer or wine.
I found it difficult to moderate my drinking, and stay within government guidelines. I know for me, I wanted a lifestyle that involved alcohol. While I didn't think I craved alcohol, I could never see that I was never happy about just having one drink and leaving it at that. I always wanted another one.
My 'lifestyle' choice was not good for me at all, and when i tried to change it, I found I couldn't without help.

For me, alcohol is cunning and powerful. My alcoholism tells me that I don't have a problem with drink! Despite evidence to the contrary. I am treading dangerous water if I don't admit to myself that I am alcoholic. I need reminding every day
