Am trying to move on, but my past keeps holding me back.
And we cannot change the past. It's a shame, but it is what it is.
That's why I do not want to drink today - when I pick up a drink my past becomes my future. I have to take responsibility for staying sober.
I can choose to regret the past and be full of self pity, or get on with it and live in today.
Bad days at work, birthday parties, court cases, unemployment, holidays, etc all test us. However, I am not a slave to my feelings today. I don't have to do what my feelings want me to do.
Good luck Sim - one day at a time0 -
Thanks Graeme.
I realise I can't change anything about my past.
It was just cringeworthy, telling the guy about the criminal record.
Do you notice a theme, regarding the offences?!
It does feel great having a clear head, although I am quite daunted as to how I'm going to socialise without booze.
Cheers,

I echo that. Good luck Sim.
Can I ask folks a question? we've just had a guy from Kleen eezee (spelling?) round as DS1 phoned one of their recruitment numbers.
Anyone got any experience or know anything about working for them? is it all just a big pyramid selling thing. They are asking for £171 to get started which DS1 does NOT have.
I thought DS1 was going to be dead keen when the guy left but he isn't and said the guy wasn't genuine. He could at least see through the sales pitch and the opportunity to "win a car".;)
Would love to know what the real story is though if anyone can help?

Sorry DB, know nothing about kleeneze.
Jo, Facebook can be really toxic - it is too easy to compare yourself to others and of course we always compare ourselves to people who have done 'better' than us, never those who are 'worse off'. It just ends up making us dissatisfied with what we have, what we have done and where we are. I use it a lot to keep intouch with friends who are now scattered all over the place and have caught up with some old friends at school but it's always a little disappointing for whatever reason.
No bells so far tonight, have had a nice day so feeling not too stressed which helps. I'm packing up the house to move in August so there's a lot to get done!!Trying to keep in budget.

Dont do Facebook.
I try not to worry how well everyone else has done or how affluent they seem to be. Remember someone is looking at your life with jealousy
Well had a busy day yesterday. Lost water pressure on the Kitchen tap and phoned up Water company who told me that as I had water in upstairs taps then I needed to get a plumber. I did inform them that as the Kitchen tap comes direct from the mains and the rest are fed by a tank in my loft that the problem lies with them. After a few heated words they arranged to send someone out. Water was off for 11 hours and we had to have bottled water delivered. I did feel like ringing them today as saying "Told you so" but thought better of it.
Makes you realise how much we take everything for granted though. Turn on the tap and water appears. Not like that everywhere in the world
Anyway 6 for me please Sparkles.
Feeling a bit old today. 25 years ago I was in the pub watching Live Aid. Where does the time go .

What bugs me is that I had my driving licence suspended for six months as I had had treatment for my alcoholism, not for a driving offence.

I remember it well! Also feeling old here and wondering where the time goes as DS2 is 17 tomorrow. Birthdays always remind me of the day before them when I was impatiently awaiting the arrival of the new baby .... and then labour got going :eek:0 -
