    Hiya Ladies and Gents.

    Jo, you can do this!

How about making two lists -

1 / The cr*ppy stuff that will happen, if you drink.

2 / How good you will feel if you don't.

    ?

    Look after yourself.

Hi everyone. How are you all doing? How's it going Jo? Have the bells passed? I must admit that if I wasn't doing this challenge, I'd be off to the wine shop soon. I had been having some strange heartbeats and I have had a home ECG monitor for the past week
and it is freaking me out! It tells you when the readings are not normal! I take it back tomorrow for the GP to see.

Anyway, I hope everyone is doing ok and let me have your updates.
I'll be about later on again.

Hiya Fay - You were a day too early but well done anyway!

    Evening All,

I have been having an absolutely crap time of late and don't like to do moany posts which is why I've not been around.

I so nearly buckled last week, but I knew it was oblivion I wanted not a drink. I wasn't craving a glass of wine I was craving the numbness given by a bottle or two gulped down without touching the sides.

Last night I had 4 beers watching the footie.....0% Cobra Beer I hasten to add. First time I've drunk any kind of 'substitute'. I was tempted by a bottle of 0.5% cider.....I just craved that cold 'drink' to go with the footie.

Be interesting what fellow giver uppers views on 0.5% cider would be.

Had an interesting conversation with a 15 year old a few weeks back. Asked her the magic wand question, i.e If I could wave a magic wand for you what would be different. Her reply was 'For my Mum to stop drinking and having all these different !!!!!! in our lives' (Mum is shall we say...popular....with the local menfolk)

I am becoming like a reformed smoker...You know the kind...can't be near smokers, wafts the smoke away from 30 metres even though they used to smoke 40 a day!

I'm similar now with booze. Hate drunk people with a passion. Strange to get used to when I've probably spent 20plus years being one and around them.

A line from a book rings so loud in my head 'You never know how sick you were until you get better' SO SO True.

8 and a half month sober!!

Hiya Fay - You were a day too early but well done anyway!

Good Luck everyone for tonight. No bells for me, Monday is easy here as I'm out dancing and nothing more than a glass of water or cup of tea will pass my lips.

fay, you scared me, thought I'd fallen at the first hurdle:D

    Evening all

Jo - you ok? Bells passed?

Bells ringing here too. Bad day at work. Filtered down from management, through supervisors and eventually through boss's future son-in law (who does an office job there - same level as me) that I can't have the day hours I want. And today I found one of the girls from the day in my office tonight saying I was to train her apparently for when I "go". Now I had said to bosses I would have to find alternative employment as Piglet would be at school...but it would be nice if a BOSS could tell me they have nothing for me??? Ours is a very small place so not hard to speak to someone surely???

Was very upset earlier. But just had a chat with my Mum. She said she is happy to continue having Piglet if I stay on nights.....I just won't tell bosses I'm not leaving :D. Hopefully I'll find something else as it means I only see Piglet for half hour after school, but in the meantime it will have to be that way.

God, whys life so bloody difficult!?!?

Hugs miss P for how you feel

Well done 365 for hanging in there. I quite liked the 0% Cobra too as it helped me for a little while to break the associations of drinking and helped me get to the conclusion of why am I drinking AF stuff? Why not just drink pop? So it helped and moved me onto fizzy water and pop.

As for me I'm AF tonight DB no problem

Feel a bit fedup a la my name as have been on a training course today which has dredged up some issues of my old relationship. Came home and felt so tired I fell asleep for an hour (can't remember the last time I did this) and now feel a bit groggy and will be off the bed in a while. Didn't sleep that great last night- took ages to get off (get this every so often, can't get off to sleep and then wake up early for work) Didn't go running today but will go tomorrow to help me feel more motivated and feel better in myself

Hope you are all ok, I'm off for a cuppa and some chocolate

    I know that feeling:

"Men and women drink essentially because they like the effect produced by alcohol. The sensation is so elusive that, while they admit it is injurious, they cannot after a time differentiate the true from the false. To them, their alcoholic life seems the only normal one. They are restless, irritable and discontented, unless they can again experience the sense of ease and comfort which comes at once by taking a few drinks-drinks which they see others taking with impunity. After they have succumbed to the desire again, as so many do, and the phenomenon of craving develops, they pass through the well-known stages of a spree, emerging remorseful, with a firm resolution not to drink again."

This sums me up quite well.....
