10 for me please Miss P, thank god I got into double figures this month!
So far drunk a litre bottle of tonic water and lime cordial and one and a half litres of orange squash, reckon ill be in the loo all night :rotfl:
Thanks for offering to score sparkles, could I have no target, ta xxxx
Sim, I'm with Marru, I think you should try to pay the debt back yourself and as kind as the offer is, don't accept any help from your girlfriend as the relationship has been volatile in the past and I think its best to keep money issues separate. Well done on 10 days xxxx
Hiya Jo.
Thanks. Congrats on your 10 days sober too! :j
Re the money situation, I agree with you.
Things between my Girlfriend and I, have got far too confusing over the last few months, due to the financial mess blurring things.
I told her that I wasn't happy, with the way the 'dynamic' between us was becoming tricky, due to me owing her money.
I do want to pay this off myself.
However, there is no way I'm going to have £500, with which to pay off The Money Shop, by next week.
The Money Shop will present the £500 worth of cheques, next week, to the Alliance & Leicester, who will, in turn, honour said cheques.
I will then be seen, to have written cheques, knowing that the funds were not to be in my account in time. Cue accusations, from A&L of fraud..
On the other hand, if the cheques bounce, and the A&L refuse to honour them, the debt stays with the Money Shop, who add a £25 charge per cheque + Interest + the possibility of them also pursuing fraud investigations..
Either way I'm screwed!
I've also considered 'rolling the debts over', for a further 30 days, thus playing right into the hands of The Money Shop, paying about £75+ for the privilege, and then having another month's stress.
I hate feeling indebted to my Girlfriend.
I'm trying to make a balanced judgement, regarding this, but it's not easy
Thanks again Jo.

If your lovely supportive g/f has £500 to lend/give then have a few days holiday-use it for that!
DO NOT PAY THEM OFF....
Lecture over..& it'll soon be over for you in a week or so!
FORGET A&L bank a/c...its toast after dro...stick with co-op!
Hiya DebtMonkey1A.
Thanks for all of your advice, regarding this previously, and this evening.
I have been listening! (Even though, it now appears I haven't)
Re paying off The Money Shop, a qualified debt advisor (the chap over on that other forum, you advised me to check out), has insisted that if a 3rd party - my Girlfriend, pays back the Money Shop, in cash at the branch (ie - it never shows on my bank account), then I have not shown 'preferential treatment' - as *I* have not paid it.
He then advised, to go through a different charity - eg - National Debtline / CCCS for the DRO instead of the CAB. However, obviously, I don't want to look shifty, and suddenly doing the DRO through another organisation, does look shifty!
Apparently, the rules and regs say, that the OR is only interested in what I've personally paid off.
Just going by what he said.
Do any of you guys know, of any regulations, online, regarding this rule re the DRO?
Also, I'm assuming that the OR, only receive my details, after I've paid the £90 DRO fee, and the application has been submitted online by the 'approved intermediary'. Is that correct?0 -
Hi Sim (from Leeds!)....up to you mate! If you pay the £500 it won't be written off.... if you don't it will! keep the money for you & g/f & write it off in the DRO. Simon favours CCCS/national debtline but at the end of the day as long as it gets done it's fine! Simon is right-if a '3rd party' pays it off then its not preferential treatment...this sounds bad but WHY BOTHER!! It'll be written off anyway...I'm repeating myself but use the £500 for a short break after you go DRO (I used to be a travel agent so can advise you...you'd be amazed what you could get!).
Sim...I may sound a bit 'off' now (I have to confess I'm at a friends & we've had a couple of g&t's..I know really bad and not good at all) but why the obsession with money shop & a/l bank a/c? JUST DO NOTHING/PAY NOTHING (AS SAID B4-NO FRAUD CASE TO ANSWER!) & WAIT FOR THE DRO IN A WEEK OR SO. You'll deffo lose a/l when the dro starts (but so what??!) & the money shop is NO DIFFERENT to any other unsecured creditor.... honestly mate stop worrying & do it as soon as...stick with CAB if you like as this seems quickest route to getting the DRO done...
And WELL DONE for the no booze.......(wish I could say the same at the mo)...especially coming off it after that binge...(!)...i'll be able to pick up this thread tomorrow after 10am-please feel free to PM me if you want.
QUOTE FROM OTHER FORUM-EXPERTS REPLY ' The one thing you cant do here to stand any chance of obtaining a DRO is make a preferencial payment to the bank involved as that’s almost 100% certain to be picked up and cause you not to get one or have it revoked soon after its made so pretty pointless. I appreciate that your girlfriend may want to help but that’s not going to be of any help here.'
'The alternative of course is to consider your frame of mind at the time you wrote the cheques I'm sure that at the time you believed that you would get full time employment again and by the time the cheques came to be cashed you would have earned enough to cover them or would be getting a gift to cover them. Either way when you wrote them you beloved you could cover them at the appropriate date for them to be cashed'.
'The other issue is that it any intermediary has to deal with the situation as explained to them so the one you dealt however nice will know all of the above and about the fact that when you visited you owed the payday loan company money so may have to report this as additional info even if its cleared by a 3rd party before you go ahead which may cause a problem as the Or will look into it anyway'
Sim...Simon is saying in his own way (!) ...took me a while to work out his 'to the point' stylie (!) that it's more trouble than its worth to pay it off..just leave it!
'I appreciate that your girlfriend may want to help but that’s not going to be of any help here.' Says it all ...just leave it & write it off!

Sim-just get this done...in a month (trust me!) you'll be so releived & wondering why you were worried !!!0 -
Hi all,
Sparkles - can you put me down for 10 for July please.
Hope everyone is ok tonight.
Sim - all the best mate but can't offer any advice. What Debtmonkey says seems sensible. It must be tempting to borrow the £500 from your GF but maybe not wise in the long run.
On a completely different subject! DS2 walked in with a nose piercing tonight  . A ring thing. I'm not keen on them to say the least but he is nearly 17 and it is his nose not mine! Has anyone got one and/or any ideas how to keep it clean and not infected etc.
Back to work today and stressed out by half way through the afternoon.
DB x0 -
DB, I've had various piercings including my nose, though I'm too old now and taken them all out
Go to the chemists tomorrow and buy some saline solution, its essentially water but the one in drips so totally free from chemicals, get some cotton buds, the ones on a stick and get him to dip the bud in the water and clean around the piercing whilst turning it gently, same as you would for an ear piercing to stop the scab from getting it stuck, do this twice a day. Don't let him be tempted to try and remove ring for at least 6 weeks so that it heals properly inside.
I hope he got it done at a reputable place with a needle and not a gun?
Good luck lol XDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
I'm off to bed at a respectable hour, though with all the water I've drunk and what with being AF and the heat I won't bet on my chances of a good nights sleep.
Night all xxDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0 -
Oh DB, you'll have to ask for the saline over the counter. And make sure he only washes around his nose with plain water and not soap for a good few days xDFW Nerd no. 496 - Proud to be dealing with my debts!!0

Uuuh - I am needle phopic..
Anyhooo - stuffed the washing machine earlier and forgot to turn it on doh!! So off I go with a book to wait for it to finish or neither of us will have anything to wear tomorrow. That's what happens when I go away for the weekend."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."
