Being sober, and being 'normal' really is difficult :-/

While having a clear head feels great, I struggle with facing everything - all the fall out of my recent benders, is a nightmare to deal with..

    Sim x

Agreed. Sometimes the urge to run away and escape with a drink is very powerful. Even though it made everything worse for me.

That's why I had to change myself. It was no good just me not drinking as my mind was driving me crazy (and I couldn't stay sober for long..)
  • To me it means Estimated Time of Arrival but on here it would probably be Edited to Add?

Like a PS - post script for the forums.

I have been vv moderate this weekend. Nearly AF but had a single cider yesterday and two beers on Saturday. I enjoyed waking up unhungovered but wish it wasn't the middle of the night when I did! Longest day, wow, this year is flying.

Have a good one and morning to Shaggy - not a good sign I beat you this morning, that means it's time to try and nap a bit more.

    Thanks now i know:D

well done on being moderate, wish i was better at it but if it's there i do tend to drink it!

    Maybe just stop buying it

Don't think its wise to be drinking on my own anyway...

  • I jusy find it a real struggle getting that first couple of days under my belt.

Once i have a drink one night it's that bit harder to refrain thereafter.

Maybe thats the addictive part of the illness?

But fortunately i am working backshift tonight and tomorrow so no oppurtunity to drink:)

Thereafter will see how i go.

Not thinking about it right now.

    Thanks

Hi all, just jumped on here quickly from work to catch up..

I love GC's line 'If I pick up a drink my past will become my future'

Sim, I think you need to forgive yourself your past and let go of it, thn you can move forward, otherwise you may be in danger of going on a bender again to 'escape' from your feelings....you cannot change what has already been...

SSG I think most of us would agree that the first af day is the hardest, I find that too..the best thing for me is to have something to do in the evening, even if it is just sorting out a drawer...also I find a bath can help me as I never drink in the bath and usually by the time I get out I don't feel like drinking..

Yes it's boredom as much as anything else.

I know a girl who never drinks alone in the house, it's just a personal rule, and i am thinking of trying for that, problem being the habit aspect of it, i have been drinking on my own for years, and it's a hard habit to break.

However i am determined to get there and i will

Hope you have a great day

    I am working :(

    So will be sober:D

    Onwards and upwards everyone
