The cutting out/cutting down alcohol thread (part 7)

I think originally I had stresses, things I wasn't happy with in life. But then the drinking became a habit I couldn't shake off even though the stresses are gone. For me it's an association thing, kinda like an auto-pilot life. Sometimes (all the time) I find it easier to drink than not to and say every day that I won't tomorrow....tomorrow never comes.
Wish I had the answers.

I'm content, like my life, love my husband, have great children. I should be jumping for joy! Crazy stuff, this life. X
Hi,
I was so like that, I had great life no reason to drink but then nice little drink became daily 3 bottles of wine and loads of chaos!
Alcohol just took me over, was craving it all the time, thinking about it planning my next drink.
Do you want to cut down

As the girls :happyhear tend to take over this thread thought I would post some feedback from my AA meeting today.
The meeting had about 40 people and was hosted by two females in their mid twenties. Both of them had in the past had their children taken into care because of their relationship with alcohol.
If you were to meet them on the street you would never in a million years guess that they now play leading roles in my local AA.

I stuck around for a good while last time and did really well. But like you say, it's a habit.
GC and RA come in here and talk such sense. But I can never, ever see a point in my life when I can walk into a local AA meeting. My dad did that. But I am not him. I am not irresponsible and put my family before anything else. I drink over the recommeded limit. I am still happy but I worry about my health. I don't want my children to be left without a mum.
My 5 year old asked the other day "will you die one day?" I said yes, but not until he had children of his own. Granny is still here and I'll be like her for his children. Can you imagine if I wasn't? And it was self inflicted?Need to start again0 -

WOOHOO - congratulations!!!! :jWhere do you get the energy???!
From running!! I used to get wound up by DD in the morning and then I was out of sorts when I got to work. I still get wound up but am in completely different mindset after running to work by the river."Everything will be alright in the end. If it's not alright, it's not the end."

I'm going to make this place a regular haunt of mine, because I need the help for sure.
RA~ I'm the woman you would never guess in a million years had a problem with alcohol. In my thirties thoughHow I have hidden it so well for so long.....I have no idea.

One was actually a street drinker at one stage. She told me that one of her worst moments was having to share a bottle of cider at 6 a.m. with what she called a tramp.Living Sober.

:hello:
Feeling tired and jaded tonight. Lots of posts I want to reply to and people I want to congratulate, hug, welcome or welcome back but can't get brain in gear!
One thing does stand out YM, congratulations!!! When's the happy day??
Thank you so much DB for scoring in May. You're a star:T
And thank you MissP for volunteering for June. I'm off for a bit of a holiday in the middle of the month so I wont have a proper target but I do hope to make 10.
Sorry to hear about your Beef Bourginon jo. Thought for the future, when I do my similar dish I cook it in a low oven for 2 and a half hours so doesn't need watching/stirring. You cold prepare it on the hob and then transfer to casserole dish, I'm sure it would work. I did smile about your meal out tomorrow. Will you be finishing off with Black Forest gateau? very retro.
Off to bed now. Sleep well everyone.0 -
So, is there a difference between an alcoholic and a controlled drinker then? Because I can tell you all for an absolute fact, I would not, ever, drink on the street and share cider with a tramp.
Not that I don't appreciate that experience and applaude the fact that she has recovered from the hell she must have been in.
My rock bottom would be losing my family, but I would never let that happen.Need to start again0
