I'd just leave it, it'll probably starve to death but then I'm not bothered by spiders.
Probably should come clean to Mrs GP though, and if necessary she can help you move all the books:D0 -

GP - ask the spider himself, to help move all the books. As he agrees to, he wouldve inadvertantly come out.
Just as he's realising though, and before he can scuttle of again, you can then drop him off in the garden and let him roam free outside, making all manner of (to him) continental friends :-)
