Just to update the thread - just got this email from sewandso (who are now my new best friends!)

I'll get onto cutting the fabric for you tomorrow morning and post the packet before the weekend.
We hope you all have a lot of fun with this project, and would love to have a sneak preview of the finished quilt before it's sold - if you get the chance.

Am so excited ( I must lead quite a dull life to be this thrilled over something)

This is brilliant news! I'm really excited about being part of this too! Slightly unsure about the town name though - I live in a small welsh village so not sure it will look too good stitched on to the square - what do you think? Maybe I'll need a bit of encouragement with that part!

I'm also a bit confused about the border / borders - I guess someone will point me in the right direction though - you'll have to bear with me I'm a bit thick at times!

Really looking forward to getting started - a big thanks to everyone for all the organizing etc. I think this is fantastic.

    .

I live on the outskirts of Edinburgh, no one would have heard of my town which is why I would use the nearest 'big' main town as my location lol x

Have sent sewandso my address and am happy to do the posting out, either if people want to send me an SAE or I can pop them in post and you can send some dosh to my hubby's paypal.

if paypall doesnt charge for making a payment, this is better for me as it means one less stamp! (not saving an envelope though as i would send one with a return label to stick on it!! not that i'm mean, i'm just mse!! :money:)

It's only going to be half a meter across if we don't pad it out. I ws going to try to look at putting a plain square and then a letter and then a square etc until we've got a decent size.
don't shoot me, but if we need a bigger quilt, how about a border of the animals that were spoken of before AROUND the alphabet? or is that too much Xstitch and diluting of the alphabet image? i dunno!

ooh! we could backstitch a square or two that list the letters, name and place of each stitcher... that would be a few more squares wouldnt it?

any preferences on a single or double quilt?
also, if it's for a child / auction for a child then i think Single is better - it's more versatile as could still be used as a throw on a double or could be on a childs bed or even as a fairly elaborate wall hanging!! (i've a single indian quilt as a hanging so it can work!)

23rdspiral don't feel like you should apologise for not doing the quilting bit, you are helping by cross stitching a square...thats fantastic as it is!!
ok, sorry. and just to remind everyone untill it goes on the list, i'm doing I or N, probably I !! :D

23rdspiral while i think that a border may look very nice...others may just shoot you lol :rotfl:

I also agree single would be better

Jlp123 i don't think many people know where I live either lol, its right near Sandringham so I guess i could put that

And Dorastar i think SewandSo are all our new best friends! they have been great!:j

WitchWooPiggy Yep we are going to doing a second border thats the same colour as the letter, not sure of the size gap to leave between the two borders though, any idea?

What about just the county? This could be more recognisable to others?
