    Big News!!!

    Dorastar
    has received this reply....

    Hi Kate
Dan's just passed me your information. This sounds like a really lovely thing to do, and we'd certainly like to help.
Now, I've had a good look at the chart, and as each letter comes out at 2.25" square, I reckon if you added 1.5" each side that allows you half an inch for seaming them together each side, and a clear inch border too - making each square of Aida 5.25" x 5.25". (You might like to suggest to each lady stitching that she oversews the edges of the Aida to stop it fraying first, as there's a lot of too-ing and fro-ing going on with the pieces, before they'll be made up.)
We are happy to provide you with all the Aida and threads you need - and some needles free of charge. We'll pop 2 x skeins of each colour thread listed together with the squares of Aida (I'll cut them for you). You can then cut lengths of thread for each square according to the letter of the alphabet being worked, and the colours needed. Are you happy for the Aida to be plain white?
I'm not sure how you're going to put this all together, but here are my thoughts for what they're worth! To make a decent size quilt, I would suggest you try to get hold of some fabric so that you can piece these squares together with borders all round, or indeed another way to do it would be to hem under each square and attach them to a ready made plain quilt in a grid? If you stitch each stitched square back together into one piece it will only work out very small, and you'll lose the cuteness of each individual letter. I'm sure you've probably thought all this through already, so please ignore my ramblings if they're not relevant!
Do let me have your address Kate, and I'll send this all out to you.
Just as an after thought - if there's any way of listing us as a supplier of the fabrics/threads when it comes to any auctioning/publicity online, we would be delighted to be mentioned.

So thats fantastic! Big thanks to Dorastar for sorting that out :T :T
If Dorastar doesn't mind sorting it out and posting it to everyone then could we all please send her some money to cover packaging and posting costs please? I have pm'd her to discuss how much that should be.

As they have also asked to be mentioned (which I think is only fair) i was thinking on the last patch along with all the other writing putting something like.....'supplies generously donated by sewandso.co.uk'
I also think we should put the designers name on too as we are using her patterns.
    What does everyone think?

Also I don't think we have even mentioned the quilters and the fabric they will need, I am going to pm Lellypantsand sort that out with her as its her and the other quilters who need this info and then I will let everyone know afterwards.

Also a big welcome and thanks to Kandipandi :):)

And Tangles that was very quick!
I think we are putting an extra border on and inbetween the two borders putting our own name on it (bottom right hand corner) that still needs to be confirmed though. I was thinking real names rather than MSE names too if thats ok with everyone?
If anyone isn't ok with any of that can you pm me please? :)

Hi everyone. I'm back from a weeks holiday and look what's happened! utter confusion has turned into organised and even with donated fabrics ect (great idea as even my very small stash of white aidea is different shades!):T

Thanks for remembering that i did offer - i've looked at what is left and I'd LOVE to do either I or N as the pixies are so darn cute and it might be my only chance to do one without my OH's laughing at me!! I'm still an Xstitch newbie so if one is easier / smaller??:o
hmm - this is a bit of a pain - wonder why noone has come forward.....

I know i haven't volunteered to do the patchwork and quilting for everyone as i'm soooo sloooow!!! it can take an age to hand quilt something if you're not that good, like me! also, i'm not sure how my machine would patch aieda - i'm going to try it though. maybe next time i can be more helpful :o

Great news from Sew & Sew, well done Dorastar! I have used them a few times and they have always been a great help. It is great we are getting threads and aida from them,

Happy to pay Dorastar p&p, just let us know how much and when. How about we all send her a self-addressed-envelope with enough stamps to cover delivery?
Then all she needs to do is pop the threads in and post! This will also save her tracking down all our addresses! We could write the letter we are sewing on the envelope , again to make things easy for her :).

Not done any sewing or planning this week, as been called into work the past two days, then out for a meal last night (scrummy!!).

Chicky, I will pm you will my doodles later :D

well done Dorastar! that is so generous of Sewandso- what a lovely company!
I'm going to look at some block ideas tonight but I think I'm going to try running some aida through my machine first (if I can find some) to see how well it holds together. I might need to back it first.
Thanks for the info Tangles- it leaves a bit of white doesn't it. So I'm thinking probably pastels.... but maybe not....argh. ....
I'm off to go mutter in a corner!

Yay! Well done for getting that sorted for us! I'm actually on my way to Stroud today (where Sew & So are & also the town where my mum works) and plan on going to the shop as I need some Gentle Art Sampler threads. The shop & warehouse are seperate, so the shop might not know anything about the quilt, but I can thank them in person if you like.
