SM, don't feel like you're not welcome. I don't know what else to say except that, and I'm worried about saying the wrong thing so I'll stop there :p

I spent a little while chatting to SM by text last night. She feels after the other day she's not welcome. I know it was a comment that didn't go down well, as much with me as anyone else but I have told her why I feel that way. :(

I have been mulling over SMs situation in my head because, as much as I have tried to push her myself in the past, I felt for her the other night and then noted her absence.

Lots of us have had little money for periods of our lives and lots of us have found ourselves in situations where we are over our heads and 'scared' to move forward and sort it out, or it feels like there is nothing we can do to sort it out.

When I think about what gave me the momentum to move forward it was fear of staying like that forever. So I guess my question is: Do you want to stay in your current situation forever SM? And if you don't what is the one single thing that needs to change to make things better? Then work on that.

FWIW (and this is something which has been on my mind for months LOL!) I think focussing on passing your driving test and buying a car is focussing your attention in the wrong place IMHO. The expense of a car will make your life harder ATM, you have coped this long without one. Although I am happy to be shouted down if a car is essential to change other areas of your life. I do admire you for trying to better yourself though.

I also forget the varied age range on here some times Tara, it is a good point.

It would be a much duller thread without you SM. xx

    Thanks Tara.

Don't think I actually got involved in that one. But totally understand where ever one was coming from.

I think that at sometimes we all get  or  or :( at things said on the thread. Take things to heart and go off and sulk for a bit. (have done it myself). But then you either put it to one side carry on or you don't.

I have never actually met anyone in RL yet. So you are all virtual and its a lot easier have fingers that get carried away typing than to actually say things to peoples faces. So maybe Searchie got a bit of the rough end of the stick.

We all would like better things, more money or to learn how to stretch our resources or we wouldn't have even found the MSE website right? None of us are ever going to be in agreement all of the time. We all read things we disagree with.

I'm not in Searchies position, and having been long term employed, I really have no idea how hard it is out there to find other work. But she obviously wants whats best for her family even if in some of our eyes her perception of how to get does not match our own.

    So Searchie, come back. Please.

But the question is... did I do that on purpose.... Boaby!! :rotfl:(cos you know, upstairs will be our bedroom and stuff, and I've decided to get an ensuite shower room and take a kettle up then lock the door and let them all get on with it)

Oh! Just thought of a good way to get DH to agree to just leave the radiator for now. When she is older she can't sneak boys up :D

  • Tia - do you think you might disturb her as you go up and down your willy stairs? Personally I would have a door put on and get it all over and done with at the same time.
