Musogirl.

Sorry you had such a bad night.

Colic - There are a few mummy who use Colief. Can be used when breastfeeding, but maybe a bit of a faff. But there are infacol and dentinox drops and also gripe water

I have used them all. Colief is expensive £10 - £11, but you can get it on prescription from the doctor. Try the others first, think they need to be used for a few days, before you see a difference.

Alex had horrendous colic and I feel your pain. (hugs)

MFD what did you get your hubby for his birthday in the end?

Mine's still struggling with birthday gift ideas, he doesn't seem to realise that a cleaner doing the apartment while I'm at a spa and he's playing with Molly is my ideal gift.

I got him a hammock for the garden (a cheap one with a promise of a proper one if he uses it), a DVD box set of an early 24 series and the whole box set of the Sopranos, and a DVD player to play them on :D

Oh and a book from Benjamin called 'Just Like Daddy' which I got from Sainsburys for £3 and he LOVED IT (hubby) it is a textured book all about animals being like their daddy and ends with baby wanting a big cuddle, just like daddy. Hubby read it to Benjamin and then Benjamin gave him a big cuddle and a kiss at the end :A made all our days!

I would just TELL hubby that that is what you want, and anything else will disappoint you terribly.

It sounds like a fantastic collection of gifts there, well done you!

I've told him, but he seems to think I'm making it up and actually want a handbag.

muso - not met you yet! Hello!

Have you tried a dummy? Maybe she just needed to suck.

If I could do it all again with the knowledge I have now I would never have let Jack sleep in our bed, I did it because I was lazy and I wanted a quiet life. I now have a 9month old who is a nightmare to get to sleep in his cot.

We have been trying to give her a dummy which works for very short periods and then she'll refuse to keep it in.
Sounds like it could be wind. Have you tried Infacol? Is she giving you good big burps? If anyone tells you a BF baby doesn't need winding they are talking poop!!

Don't worry about baby in the bed ATM (as long as you are fine with her being there). She is too young to know any difference or get into any 'bad habits' she just needs to know that you are there - she is still very tiny and only just getting used to this new scary world.

Sorry, I didn't catch up to see if you had sorted feeding laying down?

Weve got some infacol so we'll give that a try today. All the time we were in hospital she didn't burp at all but last night we had some big sicky burps. After these she did go to sleep for the first time all night!

Yeah, I sorted out the feeding laying down thing last night by default!. I really forced it to work and it did leave me with a shred of sanity!

Will give the infacol a whirl and see what HV says, then if it continues a trip to the doc might be in order!

Musogirl - Just so you know it can take a good few days for anything to take effect, so if it seems like the Infacol isn't working stick with it. HV's usually advise trying things fro at least 5 days.

Infacol needs to build itself up over a period of time until it is really effective. :)

Seem to have very efficient posties from North west to North East :D. Glad you like them.

Wish the sunshine could reach inside our crap building, but we have no outside windows and it's all doom and gloom.

My mum came to pick both boys up this morning, Joe has dressed himself in a sleeveless t-shirt and my mum was panicking, wanting him to wear something with sleeves. He wants to go to the park to play football and he'll have her there all day. Told her to keep slapping on the Factor 50 and he will be fine. He was fine spending all day at cricket with just one application. Quite sure there was non of this panicking with me when her and my dad took us on holiday to Turkey, Cyprus etc in high season and i burnt to a crisp on numerous occasions. Grandchildren are obviously much more important :p
• Tips for winding musogirl - other than the usual load of back patting and rubbing (make sure you are doing it hard enough, she won't break!) are laying her flat and then slowly raising her to a sitting position a few times, slinging her over your shoulder (so her arms go over and down your back) and walking up and down stairs a few times, gentle jiggling and jogging, laying face down on your lap and patting/stoking upwards.

If you rub her tummy make sure it is always in a clockwise motion (anticlockwise can trap wind and poop in).

Men tend to be quite good at burping (;)) and it gets daddy involved too :D

I agree about the sleeping in the bed, I spent the first 6 weeks (at least) with William in the spare bed as that was the only way he would sleep but it did make things easier for feeding - laying down. I then kept trying him in the cot for small spells and now he sleeps in there all night apart from a feed about 1.30ish

My missing bed bits were supposed to arrive tomorrow but they're delayed till Tuesday :( FIVE more nights on a mattress on the floor, and my guests are coming for lunch on Tuesday and it'll all still be a big mess :(
