When we went for a carvery last week we asked for a bowl and they were happy for us to do that, Maddy had some off my plate. X
Too many children, too little time!!!

What we used to do with Benjamin was to sit him at the table with us when we were eating and give him a whole peeled carrot to suck on. No danger of him eating any (and mostly he just had a suck and then waved it at us) but it gave him a taste for something other than milk and, more importantly, got him involved in mealtimes and sitting at the table.

this is what we are trying at the moment. i am giving him something from my plate or when DH as a pizza, the crust which has a little sauce and cheese on it.
tried him with a little sandwich before, did put it in his mouth but nothing else.
he does seem interested in us eating so am hopeful that he will decide to eat in a few weeks.

Newmaz Great news all round for you! :T

Commute - my work was only around 9 miles away, no motorway. If I left at 8am, i'd get there in 10 minutes, but if I left at 9am it'd take me over half an hour.

Mum has worked in the same school for 30 years, less than two miles away from her home. The school is relocating over the summer to a new site about 5 miles away from her home and she's getting really stressy/upset about having to travel so far! :rotfl:

We've been up to A&E. We've never been before, we're a healthy bunch her you know! :p It was very nice. It has a seperate childrens A&E section and there were only two other children there. She had an xray, and it all looks ok, just some soft tissue/tendon damage. She's happy she's got a sling!, and has to keep taking paracetamol for a few days. Oh, and she's not so happy about no gymnastics for a week or two. :(

when i was growing up my primary school was 5 min walk and then my secondary school was 10mins. my job was less than 5 mins away. it killed me when i moved here and started working in Manc as that's a 10min walk to tram stop and then 20 mins on tram. although my first shop was right at the tram stop so nice and handy. mind you cos of that i get hopelessly lost in manc city and cant even find King St lol or st ann's square.

ETA- yay for no break in arm!!
This is what we did, started off sitting Isla in the highchair at meal times so she can watch us eat and gave her carrot sticks or later on sliced peppers which she loves. Then when it came to her having food on the tray that she can actually eat she's done really well.

These are the idiots that make me hate ebay! It doesn't help that I have a house full of junk I need to sell before we can think about moving!

    Hello by the way! :D

Well done Evie :T Clever girly and I agree, a lovely name which was on our shortlist too. Maz there may be some useful info on folksy about craft fairs/selling etc.

Wee James has started his milk feeds today :j 1/2 ml an hour so all good progress :)

And in my own exciting news which I know only you lot will understand, Isla's last two feeds have been without nipple shields! :o:rotfl: It's taken me 6 months to get here and she still refuses from my left side without it but fingers crossed the right side's doing ok! I know it's a really daft thing to be excited about but I've come to detest my mexican nipple hats and it's lovely to feel her close when she's feeding. Do you see why it's not exactly something I can post on my fb?!

Hope everyone's well and babies are behaving x x

    :j for no shields!!!

    and :j:j for James

Good news that there is no break, 3. What happened, I missed it, sorry.

Back walkover at gym on Monday went wrong!, and she landed on her elbow.

I thought she'd make a speedy recovery in time for sports day this morning, but she's still crying/moaning about it, so thought I should take her to get checked out (especially after lots of stories of people thinking their children were being dramatic when they actually had broken limbs!).

Our carvery provides a free bowl for the baby, I did wonder how long they'd be happy to do this for.

ETA: :T:j for Boogelys bare nipples! :p

    Hola!
I feel f'in fantastic!! We went up to bed at 10pm (we being OH, me & Ed) by the time we were clean n teeth brushed etc I fed Ed and put him in bed at 10:30ish then we snuggled up to watch a spot of tv. I was fast asleep not long after 11pm and only woke at 4:30 to feed Ed then he had another 3hrs!!
I even managed to get us all ready and across to the Dr in 10mins  I was taking Ed to have his chest listened to because he scared me a bit with his cough last night but he's all ok :D

Boo fab news on Isla feed :T

hmm was gonna chat more but theres the distinct wiff of hairspray coming from Chris upstairs!! x

  • Where are you eating at CP, MFD? I think if I was going to Strada or somewhere I would probably just get an side of garlic bread or something and share some of my mains, but if it was somewhere more pubby I would probably get him a children's meal ( but I am gutsy and would love to finish off a kids meal as well as my own food).

In news here, H had his first ever taste of formula last night. I wanted to see if he would take it, so while I was at SW I got OH to feed him and put him to bed. He drank 8oz and slept through 7-5:30 which he hasn't done for absolutely ages. Not sure if it was the formula or the fact that it was cooler and he was back in his sleeping bag .

At least you know that he will have it (and likes it by the sound of it LOL!).

Some of my RL mummy friends gave formula at bedtime because they thought it made baby sleep better through the night. Benjamin had a bottle every night but we never saw a difference between formula or EBM.

We are booked in at Huck's the American Grill - it was the only decent reservation left when I booked about 2 months ago!!! I will see how he is doing. Some days he eats tons and would devour most of a kiddie meal. In the last week or so he has been a bit more fussy. I have bought him some of his favourite Little Dish meals for in our lodge though. They are really pricey but he wolfs them down!

SS I have hugely inverted nipples :o Even after 6 months they still hide, in the hospital I only managed to feed from the right so for the first 36 hours that was the only side she got. They only discharged me as I told them I had a set of shields at home and thought they would help, they did and meant I fed from both sides but then Isla refused to feed without them!

I've gone to baby cafe and spoke to my HV about weaning her off them but their attitude was 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' The problem being it is broke! I want to feed normally so everyday I've tried without but got nowhere and didn't want Isla to start getting stressed over feeding and go on a nursing strike. Today though she's just got on with it so hopefully it's the start of normal feeds :)

Sorry, went off on a complete rant there! The actual shields are just like a thin disc with a huge nipple so by the end of the feed it's pulled your own nipple out inside it. Not easy to get them on and off discreetly though.

3 - glad to hear Liv's okay and happy with her sling.

Gisi - fab night's sleep from H! Can you get him to have a word with Isla please and explain night time is for sleeping! Last night we could hear her over the monitor blowing raspberries on the seahorses belly and 'talking' to it for an hour! She was hyper and wide awake for hours.

Oooooooh, that's clever, but I can see why you're happy she doesn't need the right one :)

I'm also super impressed that you persevered. Well done you :j

phew all clear but were about to go and try to open eds bank account without an appointment :undecided

MFD I think the first kids meal Chris had was my birthday last year (2.5yo ish), usually get him a pasta in sauce thing which he could generally eat a bucket off, I don't get him a kids meal if it's not something we'd have at home (like cheapy yellow food stuff) in those cases I would get something like a side of garlic bread n salad or a starter.
I say wait n see what's on offer and check the portion sizes on other tables, some places give way too much for just you so sharing would make more sense.

LOL - I was wondering about the type of food childrens meals are too! I don't give Benjamin yellow food really and whilst DSS is very good (his faves are pasta and fajitas) I hate to see him eating chicken nuggets :o.
CP's is normally better than average quality stuff though.

What I was really wondering was how long I can carry on sharing with him (or giving him stuff from home) before he is 'expected' to have his own meal - 2.5 sounds good to me :D

    Good morning ladies,

Evie is sitting up on her own unsupported!!!! Only for about 15-20 seconds at a time but I think thats pretty good :j:j

Can't remember if I mentioned it but my sister was diagnosed with kidney failure in October last year and has been on dialysis daily since then. Anyway, my mum donated her kidney to her on Tuesday. Both ops went well and so far they're both doing really well. Still wait and see for my sis as she's on critical list for a week cos of possibility of rejection but so far so good. And if she's still ok after a week, then they seem to think its unlikely to be rejected :T

Anyway, off back to catch up a bit now...

Great news Maz about your sister :j....

William is about the same with sitting up:T...he tends to lean forward and look like a gorilla...He gets really frustrated now at lying down and wants to sit up all the time but you cant leave him alone for too long
Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.
